Well, my other SD37P2 has arrived back in blighty (I've just got to get it sent over here), it went back to Shuttle after the PS went pop.

Hmmm, fancy a moderate setup for it, for silence, a nice sensible quiet home PC and not too much cash waving at it. Passive GFX perhaps.

Any ideas.

7600GS for graphics are pretty decent cards (but probably not powerful enough if you want Hidef content) and the passive cooled ones are around £61

Maybe a tiny spinpoint for OS and a much larger barracuda for storage (they seem to be the quietest) - shouldnt set you back more than £100 for both
(160G Spinpoint P £35 & 7200.10 320GB £57)

E4300 - £96

Sata Samsung DVDRW £20

2GB DDR2 RAM 5300/4200 - £120 (depending on what OS you want of course - you could get away with 1GB)

Approx £400+vat to make a pretty decent machine

Yeah, I'd thought about £450ish, will probably go for the E4300, 2GB RAM, perhaps 2 mirrored drives for safety (eek another floppy drive to purchase!) and use it as a file server as well, will investigate GFX cards after tea.

eh, a 37p for a file server !!!!!!!!

madness :)

OK, decisions are so tricky here's my latest basket exc. of course the Floppy Drive:

GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC5300 £111.61
Intel E6300 £119.84
WD RE 250GB SATA-II 16MB £57.56
WD RE 250GB SATA-II 16MB £57.56
Pioneer DVD±RW £19.96
BFG GeForce 7600 GT OC £84.59
XP Home SP2 £58.74

I'll switch the Corsair for the GeIL in the other SD37. The 2 drives are incase I RAID them and I like WD'S. Still got my first WD Drive I bought in 1996!

Any price/performance tweaks to be made here?
