My current setup is

i7 2600k
H60 corsair cooler
msi m-power z77 mobo
16gb ddr3 1600mhz ram
Dell U2713HM (2560x1440 rez)
BenQ GW2450HM

I do web design so often use Photoshop and illustrator but am looking to learn 3ds max and after effects. I have been playing battlefield 4 and got back into gaming on the pc so would you upgrade for Christmas? I was thinking about a 4930k build or something like 2x780s sli with a 4770k and motherboard.

EDIT (my budget is around £1000 - £1500)

What GPU have you got or are you using the integrated GPU on the i7. The 2600K is still a very good processor. I would try overclocking it. Should hit 4.5GHz without too much trouble and get a decent GPU. Maybe wait for the new 290 (non-X) and see how it shapes up or go for a GTX780.

This.

Judging by the way that Nvidia reacted to the 290x and 280x release by cutting prices of the 770 and 780 by about £80-100 I think waiting 'til Tuesday, and maybe even a week or two beyond that would definitely be worth it. ;)

Hey sorry for late response I got stuck on bf4 until the crashes / restarts got the better of me lol.

Yes I have a MSI 680 2gb (sorry I thought I posted that), I have my i7 overclocked at 4.1 as a basic overclock (I gained issues when I overclocked to 4.5 / .8).

I would want to stick with nvidia for the cuda since I want to get into the video editing side of things why I had Ivybridge-E in mind and maybe a 780 (for cuda boost and I play games in 1440p would be nice to max out games again) If you guys think my CPU is fine then I will stick with the 2600k for a while and maybe keep my eyes on the 780 or titan for any price drops.
