The CPU is OEM so you need a CPU cooler, either go for retail or pick a cheap AM2 cooler. I'd change the DVDRW for a cheaper model, the NEC 5170A in beige is around £12.99+Vat if memory serves. The graphics card is a turbocache model I think which means it will steal some system Ram but given a tight budget it should be ok. :)

Also, any thoughts on that monitor ie widescreen vs standard?
Widescreen one is cheaper!

Think I'll get rid of the dvdrw - he can upgrade that when he wants to!!
 
Widescreen is slightly less demanding in terms of pixels used as the resolution is 1440x900 rather than 1280x1024 on a standard screen, I don't think it will make a lot of difference really since most games come with widescreen modes built in now anyway I believe. :)
