Thoughts on the below? Not going to up grade after this for a long time so thinking the Quad may last longer. Already got a 4870 1GB and a Cors. 620w

Will be hapy with a 3.2GH, is that achievable with the below?

wow, the antec 300 has shot up in price =\

that motherboard is only worth getting if you are going crossfire with another 4870, if not then definitely go for a p45 board which is cheaper, they are much more stable and allow for more overclocking. get the asus pro one while its on offer :)

the scythe wouldnt be my personal choice, i would either go for the cheaper arctic freezer pro 7 (on offer too this week):

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...oling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775)

or go for the more expensive noctua cooler which is brilliant:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...=Noctua NH-U12P CPU Cooler (Socket AM2/LGA775)

that ram is ok, but has quite poor timings making it slower. for the same price you could get these which have better timings:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp... Low Latency Dual Channel DDR2 (OCZ2N800SR4GK)

the processor i would definitely change, it has less cache than the much cheaper q6600 which i would reccomend, or you should go for the 9450 or q550 which have 12mb cache and are faster.

the samsung f1 is a really good 1tb drive, but i think the western digital ones are the fastest and are a couple of quid cheaper too =)

also, get 2 120mm fans for the frontal intake of your antec 300:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...name=Xilence XPF120R Red Wing 120mm Quiet Fan

these ones have good airflow whilst being quiet.

hope iv helped :)

You've helped a lot, thanks for the tips, I am thinking of a future crossfire so is the x38 worth it...saying that i have read that 8x8 on the p45 is as good as 16x16 on the x38...i just don't know what to do!

It wont really matter, your eyes cant possibly tell the difference

is that in response to 8x8 v's 16x16?

I've almost talked myself getting the p45 board and putting the cash towards a Q9550...(if i did this would i need better ram?)

Thanks all
