Hi everyone, my Opty 144 / 800GTO2 pair is getting a little old and tired and I'm going to do the decent thing... and pass it on to my gf to use. I'll retain the case, drives and OS etc, but want to replace my Hiper with something a bit less likley to explode :p .

Any comments on the system below before I order? I'll be overclocking it as far I as is stable and think that I'll buy the graphics card when ATIs offering is released (even if it's not better it may affect prices).

The machine needs to be fairly future proff (18 months or so) and play Oblivion and Company of Heros on a Dell 2407 better than the 3 - 23fps I have at the moment :( . Budget is ~£600 and needs to include the graphics card.

My main concern is over the cpu and the cooling. For £350 is this rig okay or can I do better?

Thanks for the feedback - I only went for the freezer as that's what I have on the opteron and it is doing me proud.

I picked the 6320 chip as although its a similar cost as the 4400 it has the 4mb cache. I'm guessing that the way these things clock its better to spend the extra £20 on the graphics card rather than go for the more expensive 6420 or 6400. Correct, or am I making all of this up?

Oh dear - never finalise your spec while drinking beer, it always goes up.

This was the final choice and it leaves 200 for the graphics, thanks for the help folks.

Now we just have to see how long it takes to deliver up here....
