Hi,

I'm after a new compact camera, upgrading from a Panasonic Lumix FX35 (something's gotten into the camera and it's causing some distortion in my shots), so I thought I'd upgrade at the same time.

Budget: £200.

I would like a compact rather than a bridge camera, with the wide angle end at least 24mm. I would want to use it in some low light situations, and I'm not very bothered about video, but 720p would be a nice-to-have rather than essential. Good macro would be another nice to have.

I found the Samsung EX1 for £199 which seems to be fit most of the bill, except the zoom is a bit small and the video seems a bit rubbish.

Does anyone know anything better? Cheers in advance.

I'm not sure if it's exact spec will meet your requirements but it is a bloody good camera, the Panasonic DMC TZ7. I bought my parents one a couple of years ago and they've never had any issues with it, it's very easy to point an dshoot and get good shots. The one down side for me is that it doesn't have that many software settings for such a mechanically good camera.

Having looked into it now, it's obsolete, but I'd bet the DMC-TZ30 will be just as good. Worth a look into, even if it is a couple of pounds over budget (depending where you buy it)
