I currently have a monitor, keyboard+mouse, 600W PSU,CD drive(s)

Only need a GFX,RAM, Processor, Case, and motherboard

I just wanna explore some ideas and suggestions. It's for gaming usage and would need to be the most futureproof possible for the money

£300

P.S i have an a Asus P5KPL-AM SE iG31 motherboard already, but i dont know if it'll be useful

Ty for any suggestions :)

Do you not need a HDD then? And is £300 absolute limit? If you could stretch another £50 it would be beneficial, get a phenom CPU in there then

The future proofing isnt great but would prefer this than the above processor even tho with the above spec u can upgrade to a much better setup when u can afford a phenom

ohh yeh and this is an old screenshot so replace the sapphire 4850 with the OCuk one its the same in the above spec

spend £47 of a £300 budget on a case, madness, at least include a P45 so he'd have the option of going xfire in future
The Athlons dont actually perform that badly in games, still pretty good, as you can see here, its the 250 rather than the 240 but there wont be much difference
Id still recomend the AMD build, just as god performance, as illustrated in link, and future upgrade path

whether u get the p45 or the more expensive case whichever u skimp on will need upgrading in the future , i just like the antec 300 a lot.

go with the amd build and upgrade to a phenom in a year or just under

I used to have an Antec 300. Not a bad case, but now I have a Coolermaster Storm Scout, I would never buy such a cheap case again.

I definitely think the AMD is the way to go. For that price, you'll get more for your money, and an easier upgrade path.

It is a very nice setup however OcUK are now selling a DDR3, socket 775 motherboard for £10 more... Also because its DDR3 it will be so much more future proof...

I'd probably stick with the 8800 for now and spend more on the rest. Then replace your gfx card when you next upgrade.
