Hi All,

I have been away from the desktop scene for a couple of years due to using XPS laptops.

But I am now looking to get a highend PC mainly for gaming.

Budget is around £1000 and I already have a monitor.

I am looking to get a Core 2 Duo Processor either E6600 or E6700. Is the 6700 worth the extra?

What motherboard is recommended I usually go for either Abit or Asus.

I notice there is a bundle on offer at the moment with E6600, Asus P5W DH Deluxe and 2gb XMS2 6400. Is this bundle recommended or am I better getting seperates.

My main area where im not sure of is the graphics card, which is the best card to get for £200 - £300.

Also in a similar situation to you... from what I understand it depends on the size of your monitor, I have a dell 24" so I'll probably be best off goin for the 7950 GX2s, tho they're pretty expensive. Otherwise 1900xt is good if your running under 1280x1080 and if you dont need aa and all the fancy stuff on with a bigger monitor the 1900xtx is a good buy. Some people have said that getting the cheapest option is best atm as the dx10 cards are coming pretty soon.
 
stick to the e6600, and over clock it to the speed of the 6700 ;) the bundle is a gooden im my opinion, i think that ram is cas 4 or 5? u wont notice much of a difference, will be cheaper than buying those parts seperate. NOt sure about the gfx card, best to post in the graphics card forum :) same for soundcard n hardrives etc
