I want to build a second rig that will be used solely for downloading and unpacking files.

The spec doesn't need to be great, but i don't want to spend my life waiting for files to unpack.

The main aim will be for the entire system to be passively cooled, including the psu, so hopefully the only noise will be the hard disk spinning.

Theres no need for any peripherals as I will be using the machine via VNC, so it will need a wireless network card.

Any suggestions, as cheap as possible please chaps.

for it to be entirely passive you would have to be looking at a p2 or a very low clocked p3 and these would be lacking on the performance side. so possibly decide whats more important as a p3 could be made to run real quiet with big fans etc but still not lightning fast. also these can be found on a certain auction site for not too much.

To save some £ you can take the 250GB HD down to whatever you feel is neccessary. It's got a fanless motherboard, silent PSU and the CPU is slightly better than what I have, it should easily meet your demands.
