Although it's not for me :)

My Dad's company car lease is up. He has circa 25k to spend. (Although this isn't dead set)

Must haves:

- Diesel Engine (As he fills the car up at his yard for free)
- Comfortable for long journeys as far as Brighton
- Brand new for company reasons

He currently has an 07 118d with the M Sport pack

I've offered up the following suggestions to him:

320D
A4 Diesel

He's also looking at the new Scirocco (He seems to like them) as well as the 1 Series Coupe

Any other contenders worth looking at for him?

Ta :)

I'd say add Merc C220D Sport and Accord 2.2 GT into that mix, bot ver accomplished cars, and better than an A4 dynamically and on a par in terms of interior.

Chances are he will end up with another vehicle of the Bavarian variety but he wants to shop around!

Thanks for the extra suggestions!

Dads made his choice.

He's gone for the E90 320D SE Business edition, told him he should go for the 2.0 this time instead of the 1.8!

The business spec comes with a fair bit so I think he's quite chuffed.

The leather: Oyster/Black Dakota leather/Alu Trim

Extras:
M Sports Steering wheel
Cruise Control

My dad looked at the business edition too - dont they all come with nav too? The nav really sets off the E90 interior IMO, but seems to be a bit of a rare option

They dont do a 1.8 and have never done a 1.8.

Funny how we drove the 318 the other day then isn't it Fox?

Check the configurator.. theres a 318  unless i'm missing something?

Ahhh, I always assumed the model number related to the capacity of the engine - slightly mis-informed I was :)

I think it used to be, mostly, but I think there are mode models where it doesnt match up now that there are models where it does match! Just like the 325d is a 3.0, the 335i and d are both 3.0s with 2 turbos etc

This.

I think years ago it used to relate to the engine size, but now it's basically the higher the number on the badge, the more power it has.

It isnt a 1.8, its a 2.0 and has been since the 318d was first introduced. The 318d has never had a 1.8 litre engine.
