Apology's in advance but I have no idea what to be looking for when it comes to monitors, it gets a bit confusing when looking at specs.

My current monitor is a 2209wa ultra sharp, I've had it for awhile but it seems to be developing issues, my first one was replaced due to dead pixels, now this one is giving vertical yellow line on the left and tapping the top of the monitor fixes it. I think my warranty would have ran out by now, something I will be checking on.

I do lots of gaming and movie/tv show watching on my PC, so I would really like good image quality, nice vibrant colours (not sure if that's still a problem on screens now), pretty much after a good screen. My 2209wa has a screen Res of 1680-1050 and I'm interested in maybe going for 1920-1080 (I think thats the next best res up?). Budget is max £400, ideally around £300-350 but if theres anything special around 400 I might consider it. Thanks in advance, I'll look around the other spec mes in the time being.

I believe the 2209WA came out in 2009 and has a 3 year warranty - so you should still be covered.

However, if you do still want a new monitor - the HP ZR24W is a nice bit of kit and should go well with your replacement 2209WA. Here is an in-depth review of the HP.

Looks like I still have plenty warranty left on my Dell so looks like I'll go that route, somewhat disappointed (shopping urge :D) but its good monitor.
