Hi my mate is ordering a new PC and wants me to get him some bits, he has £300-400 to spend on a whole new rig (need all parts). Could you please spec me a PC that can handle browsing/gaming(mid settings) for the budget please.

Tricky, if you need a full rig that'll do gaming on mid-settings and includes a monitor, operating system, keyboard, mouse, speakers you'll have trouble getting everything brand new for £400. I've put this together as pretty much the cheapest gaming system you could build on OCuk:

Comes to about £410 with no speakers or operating system as you can see. I'm sure others will jump on me for suggesting a DDR2 system but this is just to show even with the cheapest stuff it's tricky to do an 'all-in' gaming system on that budget.

edit - just noticed I added 2 keyboards to the basket by mistake for some reason.
