Sorry this is asking for another Spec machine, but i just bought COD4, and my computer is just over requirments and i want a decent PC to run it smoothly, so heres is the info i can give:

Budget: Around £1000

I never overclocked my PC's, dont know how :(
I 'want' a PC to run COD4 and future games like AoC smoothly without lag or loading problems.
I only need the Desktop itself, as i have a OS,Monitor,Mouse,Keyboard and speakers/headphones

Also can suggest desent gaming mouses/keyboards - Mouse has to be able to design side buttons to in game buttons :P

Thanks :P

What size is your monitor?
EDIT:If it's 24"+, this is a good spec:

If it's not, I can save you a lot of money.

Well I think that perhaps £1000 is a little overkill I think perhaps this spec has pretty much got everything you need. You can change the memory about as you wish, I'm presuming you have 32bit xp.

I'm unsure about the gaming mouses/keyboards, but if you got the money, razer have just released a brand new mouse and keyboard that looks real nice.

and yes i do have 32 bit xp, would it be better with more ram or less? as i want my games not to lag really ;) oh and i will need a network card aswell if the Motherboard dosent have one already and a decent sound card :P

has no case as i think its up to you since you're the one seeing the computer everyday
but you do have £160 remaining for the case,

could also drop the 2x2gb kit of ram and go for 2x1gb instead as xp32 bit will only see about 3.75 gigs of ram including ram on the graphics card and the cpu cache (i think). if you desire more then 3.75 gigs then you will need a 64 bit operating system

17" is much too small these days. I've also rectified the 4 GiB RAM problem here too. If you decide you don't want to change OSes you can use the OS money and get another HDD for a really fast RAID 0 array (180 MiB/s).

Listen, I think if you have £1000 to spend, you should upgrade your monitor aswell as your operating system so you can have 4gb memory. I'm sure you can get a spec which includes a 20-22 inch monitor and OS for under £1000. I'll give it a go for you.

How does that look?

thanks all for your specs, i think i might go for BillytheImpaler Spec, does anyone think there is anything wrong with that?

I'd pay the extra pound to get the Seagate hard drive, that's in my spec. a lot more people use them, due to their reliabilty and speed.

And pay the extra tenner and get the LG 22 inch, you won't be disappointed and if you do go ahead with the 20 inch, within a few months you will be annoyed you didn't go with the 22 for the extra £10.

Apart from that, it's a good spec. Perfect :)

You're right about the HDD, I meant to put the Seagate 250 GB in there but made a mistake.

I'd stay with the 20" monitor though since the panel quality and performance will be much greater with the 20" Sammy.
