My parents are looking to buy a new PC soon and are looking at this one from a local computer shop.

P4 Duel Core 3Ghz 775
Motherboard (don't know the make)
160Gig HD
256 AGP Graphics card (don't know the make)
1Gig Ram
DVD R/W
XP Home sp2

£528

The PC will be used mainly for basic video editing and internet. The only games to be played on it will be Tomb Raider Legends and Microsoft Flight Simulator. However they want it to as future proof as possible.

Can anyone give a similar Spec for a cheaper price?
They don't need a monitor or keyboard/mouse but will need XP.

Thanks for you help.

The price isn't too bad but the choice of technology is, going for AGP isn't particularly great here and the lack of indication about the model of the graphics card makes me suspect it is a cheap card with an excess of Ram. Also is the Ram on the motherboard DDR or DDR2 as that might help identify the motherboard.

I'd probably opt for something like this which I'm fairly sure will be better although without the full specifications of the other one I can't say for certain and they will have to build it themselves.

It doesn't look like that great a rig.

If the board is AGP as you say then the board prolly won't support Core2D if you ever wish to upgrade (unless its that asrock board which has both pcie and agp).

You should prolly investigate to see if you can buy a rig that has more of a future upgrade path. eg PCIexpress graphics, DDR2 ram, a core2d compatible motherboard etc.
