Just picked up an 03 mondeo, 77k on the clock and in almost perfect working order. £940. Bargain!

However it does need tyres and the clutch is on the way out. Other than that, it's a cracker.

205/55 R16

Obviously with it being a £900 car. I don't want to spend more on tires than I did the car. At the same time I don't want to die!

No budget as such, just whatever is needed. Car is a stop gap and won't be my pride and joy.

Have a look for some Neuton NT5000s if you can get them, excellent tyres for the budget cash they are.

I hope it was Ghia spec... :p

Neuton NT5000's - £57.60
Dunlop SportMAXX RT - £60.00
Continental Sport Contact 2 - £63.50
Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 - £63.74

Getting one of these other tyres over the Neuton NT5000's will probably be the best £2.40-£6.14 you will ever spend :p

Wouldn't a winter tyre be more suited over a summer time due to the time of year etc? I also don't plan to be driving it come the nice weather.

With you being in Scotland, maybe. Although they are expensive for decent ones. "Summer tyres" is a bit of a misnomer, in that they are fine all year round for the majority of us. I would only consider winter tyres if i lived in an area with frequent subzero temperatures and snow. I know you say you don't plan on driving it come the nice weather, but the person you sell it onto may well want it with normal tyres.

Ah right, I'm still learning when it comes to cars. I'll bow to your greater knowledge and opt for one of those tyres. Out of the ones listed already... What would you choose?

And thanks again.

No probs :)

To be honest, any of those three and you would have a decent pair of tyres. I'd probably go for the Dunlop as they are meant to be very good tyres and are a new design. The others are quite old - although still decent tyres.

I'd get them from BlackCircles if i were you. £76.66 for them fully fitted (plus quadruple clubcard points!)

If it is budget you can get 4x BARUM BAR BRAVURIS V rated for £231 inc Vat fitted and balanced at National Tyres.

I know the they sound like total crud, by they got some very good reviews in Auto Express, in fact highly recommended. I slung four on my old mans Mondeo before selling it for him and was happy with it.

If the car is a stop gap I wouldn't personally go mad. They are cheap enough and safe if you don't drive too hard.

Customers seem very happy too.

The dunlops are £305 fitted at black circles. This seems reasonable to me, am I right?

Edit... Just refreshed and noticed black circles recommendation above. Excellent!
