Could do with some advice if possible as im really unsure if i should start an upgrade in the next 3 months or if im good to wait another year on main basis of my machine

I have just got my Rift and im loving the VR world and i want to upgrade my computers performance in it and start cranking up the visuals while maintaining the minimum fps.

Im currently running

i5-2500k overclocked to 4.4ghz (which is running very nicely at the moment)
p8p67 pro motherboard
12GB of RAM (also run a few VMs for a lab although i only turn these on when im activly using the lab)
750w Antec power supply
256GB SSD
1TB Spinning Drive
NZXT phantom case
Nvidia 970

I am going to upgrade my graphics card at the end of may but its the chipset and motherboard im starting to worry about. I dont want to take the plunge on a new card then find that my CPU is a hard block on the performance even though its overclocked

I was looking at the following

Intel Core i5-6600K 3.9GHz (Skylake) Socket LGA1151 Processor - OEM
Stock Code CP-580-IN
£184.99*
Asus Z170I Pro Gaming Intel Z170 (Socket 1151) DDR4 Mini ITX Motherboard
£134.99*
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-19200C14 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black (CMK16GX4M2A24
£59.99*
Corsair RM Series RM 650 '80+ Gold' 650W Modular Power Supply (CP-9020054-UK)
£94.99*
Corsair Hydro Series H80i v2 Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler (CW-9060024-WW)
£84.95*
BitFenix Prodigy M MATX Cube Case - Midnight Black
£64.00

Im not sure i need the power supply but my current one isnt modular and i like to keep a tidy case and this would help. Also my current case is huge, which was fine when i bought it years ago but if i upgrade i would like to get a more svelte case instead.

So thoughts? I am good to ride out my current hardware for a bit longer or should i take the plunge and do a full rebuild?

If the rebuild is the option to go for any tweaks to the above? My budget for what i need needs to stay in the £600 region so that i can afford the new GPU

Thanks everyone

Thanks for that I shall tweak the Mobo and the Power Supply

As I'm aiming for 1080 will the 550w still be enough to drive it all?

The big question is it still worth it or should I just stick a 1080 in my current system?

Thanks

Thanks everyone I think I know what I'm going to aim for.

I am going to wait till June see what the benchmarks between the two cards are and then take the plunge on the cards.

As this is mainly for a bump in Rift performance it does seem like I might be able to hold fire on the rest of the upgrades for now, although I will be interested to see if i can get some good benchmarks out of the system as i start turning up the graphics settings.
