as above really, my sons machine has take a turn for the worse and this calls for and up grade of mine and his computers

I have at the mo an e6600 @ 2.8 so I can either upgrade mine to a q9950 or an AM3 they will be the same price point once new board and memory is included. about £380, but which is the better one for me I play games and ushuall stuff on mine and he plays games on his.....

his was a 4400 x2 amd, so I would have to buy memory and MB as well for what ever route I go, I have tried to find charts for comparing the AM3's and q9950 but cant find anything conclusive.

for C2D upgrade i would buy the this weeks specials on MB (IP35) and memory (kingston ddr2) and power supply (OCZ)
there is no need for GFX card as I have a spare PCI-E card to use so purely chip ,board and memory to buy. plus a PSU

bullit

On the performance front Intel beats up AMD tbh! The Q9550 epecially. The only trouble is the plethora of new chips intel are going to release in the next few months. They mite cause the current chips to become cheaper
