My x800xt is on it way out :-( so I looking a eithe getting an ati 1950 pro AGP or replacing MB/CPU/RAM and getting a pci express gfx card

current spec
a64 3200 clawhammer
2gig ddr
x800xt
enermax 470w psu
22" samsung monitor 1680x1050

If I go the pci express route what should I be going for 8800 or 2900?
budget of £550

would like to play games at the monitors native res, currently playing stalker at 1024x768!

PC also used for Photoshop and some video editing

advice on cpu ram and mb would be great.

yeah i can keep hdd, dvdrw and sell the cpu and mb

haven't overclocked my PC since I had a amd 2400xp! but yeah i could do a little bit

im upgrading my computer, been a year and a half now. im not really upgrading im only using my graphics card again as i dont want to splash out for a 8800 yet lol but my old parts im using to build a server.

If i was you i would go for a nvidia card, just because they are kinda in the lead right now, all i read these days is how nvidia are out performing ATI so with your budget i guess you could get a 640MB card and have a little left to upgrade maybe your processor

however like me you have a AMD system, i wanted to move away back a year ago AMD had the lead but when the dual core processors came out i saw the need to change.

so here is how i see it buy a Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB and think about getting a new mobo and processor

personally i would do this
