Yup. Finally bit the bullet and going to upgrade.

I'll be using my case, mouse, keyboard, hard and DVD drives, so just looking at the basics. The PSU is a Tagan Easy Con 580W, but will be moved with the old motherboard etc. to another case.
(My DGM 24" will be used with the new build.)
Looking for value for money plus a bit of overclocking.
Will be used for games and a bit of DVD encoding.

As a starter I'm looking at these:

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) (£140.99)
Abit IP35 Pro (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (£109.26)
Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX (2x2GB) (£70.49)
BFG GeForce 8800 GT OC 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (£123.36)
Corsair TX 750W ATX2.2 SLI Compliant PSU (£82.24)

Total £524 out of a roughly £600 limit.

Will also need a CPU cooler. (Easy to fit please. :p)

Not a fanboy of any particular manufacturer, so prepared to look at anything.
(Case is a Thermaltake Armour Jr which I'm very happy with.)

Cheers for any info/ideas you can give.

came up with the following as an alternative, with the money left out of the £600 you could change the mobo if you want.

G.Skill 4GB DDR2 PQ PC2-6400C5 (2x2GB) CAS5 Dual Channel Kit (F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ) £51.99 (£61.09)

Gigabyte GA-P31-DS3L Intel P31 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £39.99 (£46.99)

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 3.00GHz (1333FSB) - Retail £109.99 (£129.24)

BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £149.99 (£176.24)

Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-520HXUK) £59.99 (£70.49)

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775) £14.99 (£17.61)

Sub Total : £426.94
Shipping : £8.95
VAT : £76.28
Total : £512.17

Ta muchly for the reply mp260767.

Would this lot work ? (As you can tell from the setup I'm using, NF7-S and Barton I'm well out of touch.)

G.Skill 4GB DDR2 PQ PC2-6400C5 (2x2GB) CAS5 Dual Channel Kit (F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ) £51.99 (£61.09)

Abit IP35 Pro (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (£109.26)

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 3.00GHz (1333FSB) - Retail £109.99 (£129.24)

BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £149.99 (£176.24)

Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-520HXUK) £59.99 (£70.49)

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775) £14.99 (£17.61)

Would like to hit the £600 mark but prepared to go £50 over.

Any more ideas ?
Am I going wrong anywhere ?

unless you really need the extras on the pro (esata is all i can think of at the moment) i'd go with the normal abit ip35.

Thanks again.

I take it you mean:
Abit IP35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

(Which seems good to me).

Anything else apart from Arctic Silver. Just got the AS 3 here.
Wonder if that's died of old age. :p
