Hello, so the time to replace my HD6950 2gb has finally come ( I was suppose to do this a while ago) and im stuck on what card to get.

My current picks are either 7950/7970 or a 670 with about £300 to spend.

If I choose the 7950/7970 this means I may go ahead with getting a 1440p display as I like the sound of the extra gig of ram and higher memory bandwidth that comes with the amd cards.

If I go with the 670 it means I will go ahead with a 120hz display for 3d gaming and 100+fps gaming plus physx.

I will more than likely be looking to crossfire/sli in the future.

Thats the way looking at it at the moment, either card could decide on what display i'll replace my current 1080 display with (currently using a cheap 22'' lcd :()

Thanks

What kind of gaming do you do?
The extra refresh from 120hz is one of the biggest upgrades you can get for FPS style games (my opinion, i play FPS mainly) RPG style games looks greats on HD+ monitors.

I'd personally recommend the 670 not for 3D (hurts my eyes) but because of my bias towards high refresh displays.

7950/7970 can do 120 Hz as well...

Having recently bought serious sam 3 and getting a gaming mouse for xmas I was playing the game at 60fps (limited by the tv refresh rate) but loved the speed of the game which then got me thinking about a 120hz screen. I love my current card and have no problems with either amd or nvidia, the last nvidia card I had was the Geforce 256 so I basicly have no experience with them.

As for gaming I play BF3, Serious Sam, Borderlands 2 etc so a high refresh rate is a must but im also a sucker for pretty visuals hence HD+.

I would pick up the 670 in a heartbeat but the 7950/70 prices are such good value. Im not changing my gpu for the sake of it, I want extra hence the higher rez or higher fps. Although physx is a tad gimmicky and not in many titles i've got a few games that use it so going with the 670 gives me a chanceto do physx and/ or 3d and high fps gaming. I know the amd cards can do high fps gaming too but the fact a 120hz screen will be cheaper than a 1440 kind of sways me in the 670's direction.

Thats the 670 ive been eyeing up along with all the brilliantly cheap 7950's. damn you amd with your great prices!
