Hello,

Been a reader and viewer for many months.

Currently looking for a new GPU. Specs below. It's a question of will my PSU cope with a 8800gtx. The official combined 12 Volt rail is 30A. 12v1 is 20A and 12v2 is 18A. Looking for any advicee before I pay the bill.

Many Thanks.

I ran a GTX fine on a hiper of the same type, so no worries there.

What resolution do you game at though, and how much are you looking to spend?

Got a Sammy 22" tft. so 1680x1050. I can spend upto £270. Currently looking at the OcUK GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - OEM for £245.

Psychas - Could I have a reason please ?

Well, its pretty much between the GT and GTS I think, as psychas said. I game at 1680 x 1050, and recently downgraded from a GTX to a GT.

typically, the card runs everything just fine. The only exception is Crysis, but nothing runs that very well.

Personally, if you got the money, then just go for a GTS. There really isn't much between it and the GTX, except at higher res with AA. Its cheaper (depending on model) and consumes less power.

Because I sold my GTX jsut as the GT's were coming out and lost little money on it. I then bought GT which was not a huge downgrade, and the extra cash allowed me to get a Q6600, which is handy for some things I do.

Gaming wise it has not been a problem for me as, like I said, the GT runs everything admirably at 1680 x 1050 :)

Besides, at the moment I am playing loads of old games anyway, some of which arent even 3D :)
