OK, before I ask for your opinions, I must say that I've done some research, so i'm not asking this question out of lazyness. :)

I just bought myself a Asrock 4coreDual-VSTA motherboard and am planning on putting an e4300 in it. I've read all over the place that this motherboard goes up to 290-300Mhz FSB easily, but stops there, so this will be a very moderate overclock (~2.7Ghz). I'm hoping this CPU will keep me going for a year or so really, maybe 2 if i'm lucky, as I have to get the rest of my system up to par (monitor, speakers, etc.) So basically, I don't need the BEST HSF, but I would like something that will keep the temps in low enough to get the CPU to 2700Mhz. I'm planning on buying an Antec 900 Gaming case or a Thermaltake Armour, so overall system should be cool enough.

I'm looking at the Scythe Ninja, or i'd really like the Thermalright SI-128. But are there any cheaper options? Like i've said, its basically impossible to get the FSB on this board over 300Mhz, so it doesn't need to be the muts nuts or anything.

Cheers for the help guys, this site rocks!

I am looking at doing the exact same upgrade with that mobo & CPU, so I can keep my momory and gfx card for a while (see my setup in my sig)
From what I understand, the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro should be up to the job (about £17 I think)...

Can you post back how you go on with this setup as I'll be interested to know what sort of performance increase I'll be able to get from my A64 3200 @ stock....

Thanks....

well, i won't be able to give you any details till early next month, as i'm allocating £100 a month into this "new" system. This month was merely the motherboard, next month will be the HSF and CPU. Then it will be another month for the case/cpu. I have a HIS x1950 pro GPU and 1 gig of pc3200, running in single channel, as my current motherboard (ECS 848p-a) doesn't support dual channel. :(

I just took a look at the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro and it looks like it should do the job. Cheers for the help, looks like I have my mind made up, as I didn't really want to spend more than £20 in the first place. :)

As StevieP suggests the Artic Cooling Freezer pro 7 is good value for money, however I think the Ninja is a better cooler if you have decent airflow in the case.

Can anyone tell me if the following cooler is any good/better than the Freezer 7???

- Coolermaster Hyper TX INTEL socket 775 CPU Cooler

Thanks...
