Ello,

Finally decided to build a new computer however I'm stick for what m/b to get. I've decided to move into Intel land and all these different chipsets are confusing me. With AMD it was always the latest nForce board!

Thinking of using an E2160 or if my budget stretches an E4400. Not intending to overclock and its mainly for some light gaming and media stuff.

I'm guessing the choices are between a P35 chipset and the older 965P chipset. Just want something thats rock steady, not too bothered about features.

The P35 I've kinda chosen:
Gigabyte GA_P35C_DS3R or the Asus P5K SE

The 965P I've kinda chosen the:
DFI Infinity P965-S Dark or Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3

Any advice on which of these or something completly different?

Cheers

I would consider buying the E2180 CPU, it appears to clock as well as the E2160 but the extra multi might be of use...? Either way it seems to be the same price (roughly) as the E2160.

The Gigabyte GA_P35C_DS3R is a great board, I have built up one system using it, and I am looking for one soon for myself, unless the X38 chipset boards drop drastically in price.

However I would want the revision 2.0 of that board as the 8 USB ports on the rear I/O plate would be useful.

Yeah just asked the question to OCUK about the E2180 and when its due. The reply stated they aren't sure.

I've used gigabyte before and they've always seemed solid enough.
