Well, i think its time for me to upgrade again, this 320MB card just inst cutting it anymore in games, especially in Vista.

I Game at 1280x1024, games such as crysis, UT3, Bioshock, Gears of War, Soon CoD4 and When its out, Assasins Creed... and would like to use 8x or 16xAF in all games, and maybe some AA if needed/possible.

My Budget looks to be around £200-£250 tops... I cant decide between a new 512mb GTS or a GTX.. im guessing the GTX may be better with the higher memory for AF/AA but im still not sure... is it even worth upgrading yet? Im looking to possibly upgrade at the end of feb, and im aware new cards are due within the next few months possibly, and im guessing that will drive prices down. I doubt ill be able to afford one of these new cards when they come out, so current cards are what im looking at.

Any advice is appreciated.

I guess so, but i may look at upgrading my monitor sometime also to a higher res one..so GTX may be better now and in the future?

Rules the 3870 out straight away then :D, Id get a new GTS to be on the safe side, will handle 1280x1024 fine, and then if you decide to go bigger will handle that also, if you were just sticking with 1280x1024 however, then id have said the GT. :)

Well, i think im gonna get the new GTS as that seems the best investment. Will it be a noticable improvement over my current GPU? Worth the money? Ive found it for quite cheap so i think im gunna get this soon :)

Also think i have a buyer for my current GTS for £130 at the end of feb.

Thanks for replies so far :)

Edit: Also, will there be ANY problems with regards to PCI-E version? I know my motherboard isnt PCI-E 2.0, but i believe the newer GTS's are? Will this cause slowdowns or problems in any way at all?

TIA

Are you not going to upgrade your screen?. I think even a GT would be efficient enough for that resolution.

If you are going to upgrade your screen any time soon then I'd pick up a GTX. If not then a GT.

PCI-E 2.0 is backwards compatible. And yes it will be a decent upgrade over your current GPU.

PCI-E 2.0 is backwards compatible so GTS will run fine with no problems, will be a massive upgrade up from your 320mb GTS, i went from one of those to the GT, and even that trounces it, where on my GTS i could only use 2xAA with Supersampling, im now able to use the full 16xAA with Super, and im at 1280x1024 to. :)
