Hi,
I am currently running WinXP (32-bit, sp3) and am ready to install Win7 (64-bit, Home premium, full install, not upgrade). Will I need to download compatible Win7 drivers for all of my hardware (before I install)? Or are the current ones likely to be okay with the new OS?

I have C2D E8400, Asus P5Q Pro motherboard, ASUS Radeon 4870 glaciator graphics, Samsung Spintpoint F1 HDD, Corsair 4gb RAM. All using original drivers from supplied cds.

Grab the latest graphics drivers from ATi (something you should really always do, never use supplied drivers!), but apart from that I see no reason why you won't get away with the drivers 7 installs itself.

I have just carried out the identical procedure on 2 machines for friends. Just install the operating system and use the drivers supplied on installation and then go to ATI and get the latest catalyst driver. It could not be simpler. One note of caution, don't assume the network card drivers are always correct when using the optional updates, as one friend enabled the option and could not get back on the net to get the correct windows 7 ones. It was the Realtek driver.
