I currently have Windows 7 ultimate installed. I don't have a cd key so i have a 30 day count down.

My question is, if i go for the Windows 8 £24.99 online, will i receive a license key so i can use all the features after 30 days? Or will it literally just be like i have where there's a countdown and after that expires im unable to use Microsoft update?

If Windows 8 provides a License key at the £25 this seems great value?

Kindest regards

You need an activated copy of win7/vista or Xp you don't have that so you can't upgrade.
You either need to activate your win7 by supplying a valid key or buy an oem copy.

It's an upgrade you have no license to upgrade.

I'm looking to buy Windows 8 online. Now ive been on the MS website and i see on sale "Windows 8 Pro" for £24.99. Now is this the upgrade edition? As i dont have a CD key for my current windows 7 version as it was used on my other PC.

Is they any copy i can buy from MS website where i can download windows 8 and it come with a product code?

Kind regards

You don't a need a cd key for old Win7(it won't ask for it),as look as Win7 is currently activated it will upgrade to Win8 .

so if i buy the £24.99 downloadable upgrade version from MS, it wont matter that i don't have a product key on my current version? As the above post said it had to be activated to upgrade, so im looking for the next solution to download a full version of windows 8

Never mind, a bit of digging has confirmed i can't use the upgrade version for £24.99

(One purchased upgrade is good for one license, which can be used on one qualifying PC (that is, a PC that currently has a valid license for Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7).

What is my alternative please?

Does it say Win7 is activated in System via Control Panel?...if so you can upgrade to Win8,thats what I did with my Win7 PCs(I had keys but it never ask for them).

There is no activation in control panel, it has 4 days remaining, so wanted to upgrade to Windows 8 and get a full version to avoid paying for a windows 7 license, which are expensive

Sounds like you would need the OEM version of 8, or go to a car boot and try and pick up a cheap xp sp3, you can get them on the bay real cheap.

(but you could be limited to 32 bit, just so you know)
