ok well i have got it to boot i reinstalled the drives but without the IDE drive and it now boots fine?? im not sure what is going on i have 3 sata drives not in any raid configs
Practically all motherboards will look for boot information on IDE's by default and if NO boot information is present its end of story!!
When you install XP on a SATA drive with a rig that also has an IDE drive XP places boot information on the IDE hard drive directing the motherboard to the boot and OS information on the SATA drive.
ok i see how do i solve my problem i have no ide drives except DVD attached... it booting now that i havent installed the IDE driver so should i just leave it at that? also can i setup a raid array now or do i have to do that before i have installed XP? thanks for the help fred
