I have recently fitted an NZXT Sentry LX fan controller, I know there are better controllers but it looks mint in my 1200, I would like to be able to control the 2 back fans and the big boy on the top using the NZXT, the Antec fans have 2 wires going to a molex but they must also have (2?) wires going to their built in switch, is it possible to cut theses wires and attach a 3 pin fan plug ? or will I have to swap out the fans for 3 pin versions ? anyone done this ?

the fan switch on the antec is completing the circuit.

surely you could leave the molex as they are, and keep them connected.
knock off the switch and you'll have two wires, pop those into your fan controller.

that's my theory and it'd be my first attempt.
maybe try it on one of the smaller fans before taking the fight to the 20cm fella.

good luck!

I think the fan controller controls the fan speed by altering the voltage (might be wrong here I`m no expert) so wouldnt I need the controller to supply the power to the fan ? or not, thanks for your help btw.

you need to look up modding sites, you can easily google such things as "fan connector pin set" and find items youd need for propper modding, then its a simple case of working out which wire goes where.

and yes the fan controller adjusts the speed, thats the point in having one.

I'm not sure what the Tri-cool switch does, in that if you lop the end off whether it'll then work or not. Anyway you can cut off the molex and wire up a fan header connector and control it with a fan controller even with the Tri-cool switch already present, but it does limit the amount of difference you can make to the fan.

I have mine on Low setting and my fan controller now allows me to have the fan running up to 1200 rpm or so and down to actually stopping it turning. If I want extra airflow I would need to switch the Tri-cool switch, so it's not ideal I suppose.

Thanks, I know what the fan controller does I was answering Mrtckane.

I think I will just replace them with 3 pin versions, thanks for your help.

Keep the tricool switch on high, Then plug the molex into the fan controller (assuming its a molex fan controller) and it will work. The only difference will be that when you lower the fan speed, the leds will also dim.
