Hi! I'm a long time forum lurker after a bit of advice if possible. With haswell coming up and the recent purchase of a HIS 7970 (on RMA :( ), I plan on giving my case a good clean out when I upgrade as it's gotten a little dusty inside. As well as that, I was wondering how I could soundproof it.

I realise soundproofing something with so much mesh is difficult, so far my plan is to replace all the stock fans with silent ones and put rubber grommets on all the screws. Also, my PC is between my desk and a corner wall, so I was considering lining the 3 sides with foam. Is there much I can do beyond that?

I've also noticed that the dust filters on the front aren't overly effective, even when kept clean (which is a hassle on the 1200), are there any better materials or methods out there which may help?

Many thanks.

well for the Antec 1200 i thinks thats all that can be done with it in terms of making in silent.

To be honest i had a 1200 and i did exactly the same thing but it didnt really have much effect. I would suggest get some silent fans and a fan controller and thats really it. Dont bother with the foam as it will make no difference

I considered sound dampening foam for my a1200, then realised to do a decent job would have cost half the price of a fractal design r4...so i just bought an r4. It's MUCH quieter but also harder to keep cool.

I see, thank you for your responses. Looks like I'll just stick to the quieter fans then! Does anyone have any advice about the fan filters?
