Firstly im sorry if this has been discussed before, I did a quick search but was unable to find anything on this.

Basically I have bought a rig bundle from overclockers which came with an antec 1200 case. I want to alter the speed settings on the front 3 fans however I do not have the manual speed controllers.

How would I go about altering the speed of my fans?

Thanks in advance.

you should be having small knob like things in each drive bay compartment. They are connected to each of the 3 front fans which comes with antec 1200

Yea I have the holes where the nob is meant to go and what looks like a cradle for where the switch is meant to be but im lacking the nob and the switch itself...

Ill have to have a root around inside and check if they have hidden it out of the way somewhere but if not where else can I change the speed?

Ive heard many people say about the 3 fans being loud but mine are very quiet so im assuming thats purely down to them being on a low speed. Id happily take more noise if my constant rebooting is due to overheating...

Constant rebooting is due to overheating or something to do with the PSU as well!
Only the 3 front stock fans are with knobs to adjust the speed, the big boy fan and the 2 rear fans should have a 3 way switch to control 3 speed settings.
Front fans doesn't have a switch and the rear fans doesn't have knobs.

Are you sure you have the stock antec fans?

At their lowest it is almost silent at 1m distance, but at the highest it was a bit too loud for me. So I swapped them for more efficient fans. But noise is subjective and relative :)

I bought the Tyrannosaur bundle and it doesn't say anywhere that they have replaced the stock fans...

I have just taken one of the fans out of the machine and there is definately no way I can alter it manually. The only wiring leading off from the fan is for the power connection.

Im confused.com!

Does your fans have a sticker at the back saying "Antec 3 speed" or some thing like that? Are they blue led fans?

Any way if you don't have the speed adjusting switch or the knob then you may have a different fan.

I have the removed fans, I can take a photo in the morning if you like.
But I think you make have to take this up with the guys at ocuk customer services.

I just looked at the description in the ocuk web site for your pc, and it says
"Case: Antec 1200 V3 Case with White LED case fans"
It seems they are NOT antec stock fans after all!

Yea I just looked at the fan and it definately didn't have antec on it.

It was some other brand. I assume changing the speed of those said fans would be done via the BIOS or something.

Either way while I have been faffing around doing this the PC has restarted and bearing in mind my PC is directly below my window and has had the side off it for a while it definately isn't a heating issue.

Not sure what it is but its damn annoying...

Guess I don't need to turn the fan speed up though :P

Cheers for the feedback dude :)

No problem at all. Restarting issue probably due to PSU I think. If it is happening when you are doing some thing specific like gaming or when using the SLI gpus then it is because of the power draw being too much to handle, but seeing as your PSU in the description is a "good" branded 80 plus gold 850W , it should deliver the goods if it is working properly.

Just nag the ocuk CS team :) they can be slow some times because of the high demand.
Good luck with the PC, it is a mighty power house if it works well :)

Your first point of call should be OCUK as its a pre-built, liek the above post said, just hassle them until its fixed, its well in your right :) That PSU is not only good, its about as good as they get!

My PSU is actually different to what is now displayed on that page.

I currently have a 1KW Silent Pro Gold PSU. I assume it is the same brand although I cant remember.

Either way because of the 1KW I figured it would be more than enough to run the 2 GTX 580's and that the reboots being a power failure due to overloading the PSU unlikely.

Hopefully I can resolve this soon because its been happening since I got the PC as stated which is coming onto 6 months now.

The PSU is a coolermaster btw...

The system reboots randomly only whilst gaming. It can be after 1 hour or it can be after half an hour or sometimes I can go for hours and not be affected.

Ive already sent it back to overclockers who replaced the motherboard for a newer revised edition but 2 days after having it back the restart happened again.

I then figured it might be something to do with a dodgy windows install so I formatted both hard drives and the system was fine for about a week and now im back to square 1.

Its really starting to bug me!

More on topic. I still don't know where or how to change the damn speed for the fans.

Oh and cleaning the filters is bloody annoying too :P

My latest reply from the OC staff was:

I would first try removing the bios battery and resetting the cmos to defaults.

My only issue with this is I have no idea what he is talking about...

Anyone able to shed some light on that?

I would send another webnote back asking for directions on it but the last time I did that I received a completely unrelated reply from someone entirely different.

On the motherboard there is a little battery, like that which you would find in a watch. Turn the PC off at the wall, open the panel, find the battery and remove it for an hour or so. Then put the battery back where it came. You may have to remove a graphics card to find it. Sorta surprised that OcUK would expect you to do this as the whole point of a pre-built is that you may not know how to build or work on a system very well.

My advice would be don't do it.

There's is quite clearly some issue with your system that OcUK should be able to rectify swiftly.

Asking you to remove anything that may cause damage to your system is would not be an option as far as I'm concerned.

Get back onto customer support and ask for more help.

Tend to go with this ... oh and was your PC an overclocked setup ? If so I'd advise going into bios and taking a note of your settings before doing anything with the cmos.

Ive just sent them a new webnote asking for them to come and collect my PC and test it again as im not happy messing around with the hardware. Worst case scenario would be I do something wrong and void my warranty and basically throw 2 grand down the drain.

Cheers for the feedback so far guys hopefully ill get this sorted soon!

Well this is interesting...

I've set up a collection date for my PC and have managed to have EVE running for just about 12 hours now with no restarts, nothing.

One thing I have noticed is that when I check my card temperatures on Vtune it says the cards are around 40-45 degrees.

Normally during the crashes it would be around 70-75 degrees.

Does this have any relation?

Also is there a program I can use that will make logs of things like this so that when my PC DOES restart I can look back and see what it was that went wrong?

You can use GPUZ to log gpu temp and clocks, HW monitor is another program I use for both cpu and gpu but it is limited to highest and lowest tempt.
