hey guys ive recently bought a gaming titan system from overclockers with the antec 300 gaming case. its not that hot at the moment but my cpu is about 47C so i think i should probably get some more fans for when it gets really hot?

now i know im looking for a couple of 120mm fans that can keep my system cool (1600rpm?) but i noticed when i was looking at overclockers handy work that the pre installed fans there power cable seems to have... a connector as well as socket... if that makes sense... the fan power cable allows another fan to be connected to it... lol sorry im not sure what to call that.

anyone know what that kind of connection is called? as i would like to get a fan that has the feature so i can ensure ive got enough power sockets for the additional fans and that i can keep all the cables in the same place. thanks for any advice/ help.

P.S do you guys think the two additional fans at the front would help keep the cpu cool enough to run in summer?
PP.S. i got is the system i got: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-252-OK

I think you may be referring to a molex connection which will be a plug with 4 round holes in the female end. If you want to connect the fans directly to the power supply, this is what you will be using.

I can recommend two of the Antec TriCool 120mm 3 speed fan for the front intake if you want the extra cooling. These fans can be directly connected to the power supply via a molex power connector and also has a 3 speed setting which will enable you to choose the desired fan speed. They do get noisy at full speed due to the air they shift, but they will cool your case better.

Putting fans in the front of a 300 makes a really significant difference. Now only are my temps a lot lower but with the dust filter right in front of them, my room w laminate flooring is much much cleaner, no joke. Note I also snipped the grills out and used rubber studs to reduce vibration.

As to which fans. I own 2 noctua, 2 apache, noctuas in front. Don't have quite the performance, but aside from the horrible colours, they utterly reek quality. Were I to replace on a budget, sharkoon silent eagles, 1000rpm.

Hard to say how best to connect the fans, depends on your mobo, but the noctuas will be supplied with 3 pin to molex converters that will slip nicely into the cable management bay and double as speed and noise reducers. Apaches need mobo due to a 4 pin that I find unnecessary.

ah molex connection thats it! but the connection not only seems to have a female bit but also a male connection on top of the female connection. heres a picture to explain what i mean. this is basically the kind of thing i would want as it doesnt just take up a power cable spot but leaves a new power cable spot for other stuff (what should i be calling them? power cable spots xD).

Also a bit off topic (maybe i should post this bit else where?) how would i go about under clocking my processor when im not using it to game and also i guess that would reduce the heat? in my previous post it links you guys to all the specs of my system.

I used the 'balanced' power mode in the control panel power options under windows. Drops the v core voltage when just idling/browsing etc meaning lower temps.

I also fitted a Thermolab Baram Heatsink which dropped my idle temps fomr 50 to 28.
