Hi all,
My Antec 300 has 2 fans, one at the rear and one on top. They are each on a L M H switch for 3 settings, I dont like this set-up and wonder if its possible to convert them to the 3 pin fan sockets on my mobo from the molex ones, that way I can get full control without opening the case!!!

I recommend binning them, they're rubbish fans, they're incredibly loud and don't shift a lot of air.

I replaced mine for Xigmatek white LEDs, even with the 140 running on full wack it's quieter with those Antecs on the lowest setting.

yeah if you dont mind spending a bit of money investing in decent make will be better both for noise and air flow, I replaced all the fans on my 1200 with Noctua s12s and only thing I wish is Id done it sooner. If youre strapped for cash then you can get converters to attach to the molex though yeah

Thanks, so it can be done in the mean time till I get better fans. Just need to look at the wiring then.
If they are rubbish fans then im worried...it makes no difference to any temps if they are set on low or high when im running stress tests. All temps remain the same which leads me to the conclusion that the fans on their lowest setting are doing their job.....or not being effective at all. I dont have any problem with case temps that I know of.

There not rubbish fans, and yes u can use a molex to 3 pin converter to enable u to use them through the mobo.

I personally used those converters to connect them to my fan controller, and there no problems with noise there all set on high, but i reduce the speed with my controller, and if needs be whack them up to full.

Ofcourse there are better fans on the market, but only if u want to spend a fortune for not much better performance.

Don't forget, big air moving fans will be loud, no matter what anyone says, its the nature of how fans work.

I see, you recommend adding in the front fans - I think i'll do that with a good quality pair and get the adapters for all of them. Can the mobo take two fans on the same mobo connector?

Yeh don't see why not, i used to have both my front fans connected to the same header, and had no issues at all. But i guess each mobo is diff, so best to test.

the 140mm top fan is very quiet on low i wouldnt replace that one but yes replace the rear one which mine was very loud.

I dont have issues with noise or cooling with both set on low. The cpu fan blows straight up towards the top fan. The rear fan pull air over the north bridge cooler.

I need to get stats for the rated power of the mobo fan sockets - there is nothing in the manual.
