Antec 300 painting

i havnt done so myself , but i have looked into it recently , i think you will need to use a high heat resistent paint(something along those lines), like the paint you use for cars and radiators etc,

B&Q do it for BBQ's It is heat resistant spray paint and up to a temperature of 300 degrees centigrade £9.99 Would be nice if someone had done it and could post a pic?

You really don't need high temp paint. Does the inside of your case get as hot as a BBQ or car radiator?

I've painted quite a few and from experience can tell you that a trip to halfords is on order.

Halfords grey primer undercoat (big can)
Halfords Matt black top coat (big can)

While you're there get yourself some medium and fine sand paper and a thing called a tack cloth which will make it easier to get the dust out after sanding.

Remove any bits from the case that are removable and spray separate.

It should take you best part of a day to sand, prep and mask prior to painting. If you do it in less you're either a pro or you've rushed it. The finish you get on the job will tell you which.

Seriously the quality of the finish is in the prep, not in the spraying.

Have fun! and remember dust is your enemy.

thanks for this i needed some info too, ive heard elsewhere that if you dont use the right paint you can get electrostatic buildup and damage your system? do you know if this is true? :)

Never heard of this happening, and never experienced it.

do please remember to take your time. I can't stress it highly enough. Once you've masked everything have a really good look around the case, You will find bits you've missed. Little holes and slits and things like that.

use magazine paper rather than newspaper as it's less porous to the paint, and use decorators tape to secure it. you don't need the low tack stuff.

If you have dry chalky hands then a simple wipe down with a tack rag will be fine. if like me you don't have dry chalky hands then a few quid on some paint prep de greasing wipes is money well spent.

Let us know how it goes. Great things can be acheived with rattle cans.

Looks very nice casual. credit to you. A few subtle little highlights have totally transformed the look of your case.

I got my Antec 300 powder coated matte black - it looks amazing!

I was originally just going to get the inside done, but decided on the entire case as the original paint job looked very speckled in daylight!

Inside looks a lot better now, instead of that dull grey!

Looks good, well done :)

How many times did you sand and prime etc?

none aha, just made sure it was nice n clean , no dust etc, the paint i used said it could go on bare metal and didnt need sanding priming etc, it was a high temperature bbq paint and dried very quick, it took about 2 coats all over and its quite hard to even scratch the paint(i tried it on the top of the case where you cant see when the tops back on) It turned out very well with a nice smooth finish and even after installing the hardware i had no scratches :)
