Changed the fans to Sharkoon Silent Eagle 2000's and a Sharkoonn 140mm for the top mount.

Drilled out the HDD screw holes and fitted some rubber grommets this really quietened HDD noise down.

Sprayed chassis black (not the best job wanted to get it finished ......) Cut out the front fan grills as well

With the fans turned down to 900 ish its pretty quiet and keeps cool. I left the psu with the fan pointing down as there is enough space to get my finger under it doesnt appear to spin up any more than it did in last case i.e. cant hear it. Really like the Kaze Master using it too monitor psu case, southbridge, northbridge and memory temps.

On the whole I'm very happy with it just bought a second one for my wife.

thats a really nice job you've done there, everything i'd like to do to my antec 300, i have the same psu and gfx as you, i especially like the black inside (is it quite easy to do) and the rubber grommets i can imagine reduce the noise a lot.

The painting is dead easy just need to do a little preperation. I used some wire wool to key the surface, blew the case out then run a cloth around it to make sure it was all clean inside. Used some low tack tape to mask off the top panel then sprayed it with Smoothrite satin black as it doesnt require a primer I think it had 4 lightish coats.

It seems to be pretty hard wearing had the case painted for a month now been swapping stuff about and changing wiring etc only managed to scratch any paint off twice..... found that cheap satin black nail varnish works really well covering scratches.

Always wanted an all black case and think the effort was worthwhile.

The rubber grommets were easy enough apart from the bays are not wide enough to fit a HDD with the grommets I am using, so I had to "force" the sides of the bay apart a couple of mm, this was easy at the open end but a little tougher at the other end due to a 90 degreee bend in the case next to the inlet fans. The HDD was the noisest part of the PC up until then and could be heard over everything else.

I like it lots, need to strip mine out to sort wireing as my psu 4 pin atx is a stretch and needs to be extended to be tidy, also the fromt top usb and audio need extending, so a may look into painting it all black when i do that.

Well done , u have given me ideas.

thanks

The interior looks great in black! I got a 300 waiting at home for me to install my main rig into. Makes me wanna paint mine but knowing me id probably bodge it up :D

love the paint job, and the fans go really well with the case.

are you going to paint the pci slot covers? as that would really finish it off.

Wasnt planning on painting the slot covers as I'm using some chrome ones now rather than the plain steel ones in yesterdays photo's and I quite like the chroome on black look but maybe I will spray the spares and see how they look.

I have run the 4 pin cable under the motherboard to keep it out of the way.

Got to admit the usb and audio cables are a few inches too short as well, a couple more inches and they could be hidden a lot easier.

Thanks for the comments :)

i did mean just the unused covers, wouldnt dare paint the gpu ones. pretty sure you could even pick up some black spare pci plates at a well known high street electronics store ;)

:eek::eek::eek:

my fans :p

Could you post pictures of the thermal sensors and where they go, your 4 pin CPU cable and the back of your case for the cable management? I am thinking about getting this case, so it would be a good help.

Thanks.

It's funny how such a little thing like coating the inside all in black makes your 300 look 10 fold better than mine :P

Does the Sharkoon fans come with the little rubber holders instead of the screws, and how effective are they? I've noticed the same kind of holder on my AC Freezer 7

Cheers :D

(Nice build)

sharkoon fans come with screws or those rubber things, i couldnt be bothered trying to use the rubber things so just used the bog standard screws. my fans arent noisey or vibrating so its all good.

ive found that the cables for the front headphone and microphone socket isnt long enough to go around my p5q pro motherboard to the socket
any ways around this? i dont want it trailing across the graphics card

jack

Ditto for me. My HD Audio cable isn't long enough to reach the bottom left hand corner of my P5Q. Is there such a thing as a cable extender for these kind of wires?

That looks nice mate.

would your cpu cooler go the other way round. pointing towards the 140mm fan as that shifts more air than the 120
as hot air rises any way so with the cpu fans pointing towards it should disperse more heat?
(looking at it again turning it may interfere with your ram)
or am i talking out of my arse?

and turning your psu would take some of the heat generated by your hdd and graphics card straight out of the case.
although that would put the psu loom on the wrong side of the case possibly causing cable length issues
and defiantly causing aesthetic issues :)
