Antec 300

I will take soome pics of the thermal sensors and other cables tomorrow and post them for you hibeesmad (but i will admit i never painted the rear of the motherboard panel ;) )...

Diablo the psu is actually cooler than it used to be in my old case when it was in the top above the cpu etc. Though its not a internal temp reading for psu, I have a temp sensor on the top of the case of the psu it is showing 28.7 degrees and the ambient in my room is 25, plus the fan is not speeding up so it appears to be ok but I do keep an eye on it. There is a gap of almost 1.5cm and the air is cool under there :)

I took my audio cable across the top of systemboard so that is fairly well out of the way, I moved the USB I dont know how many times and I'm still not a 100% happy with it I have a few other internal cables about from various cases so may see if something else fits better.

I looked at turning the HSF around but didnt like the idea of the heat from the 4870 being sucked thru the northbridge HSF and then the CPU HSF. Never even looked at whether it would foul the memory tbh (biggest mistake I made was buying that memory as the heatsink's are so thick you can only fit 1 module per bank :( so stuck with only 4Gb)

My 2 case's arrived at 8:30 on Saturday morning along with fans new graphics card fan controllers and dvd writer. Swapped all my wifes stuff in to one case tidied the wiring up fitted fans etc for hers by 11ish (Left that one standard for now ;).
Went to town bought a dremel to cut out the front fans guards finished that by 12 but the collet broke on the dremel so had to take it back.
Got home and prepared the case that took about an hour just rubbed down all the bright work inside and out with steel wool then blew the case out with air, after that finished up wiping case with tack cloth to make sure no bits left in it.
Sprayed a first light coat left to dry for 45 mins and then over about 2 hours sprayed another 3. (Note of caution here as there is now a black box on the patio as it was sitting on the flags ... next time I will use a sheet under it )Now the hard bit ..... had to wait for about another 3 hours before I could start putting computer together again.
The wiring and tidying up to be honest has taken me on and off a week or 2 as I have been trying things out to hide more wires etc without making any extra holes in the case (no power tools here at all). My first attempt at tidying wiring took about 3-4 hours as I had to keep moving things around (I would zip tie some wiring then realise that I had missed a wire or needed to get another under the bundle ) and the fact that the fan contoller has 4 fans and 4 temp probes to try and keep hidden.
All in all I'm really pleased with the case and the look, I dislike flashy cases and prefer a plain and simple look (Lol all my laptops are matt black IBM thinkpads).

Ok I got a few photo's showing the bits hibeesmad wanted to see

This shows were the thermal sensors are they are not optimal but they give me a good idea of temps around the board.

The 4 pin cpu cable disappearing under the systemboard.

The same cable appearing at the top of the board.

The cable management at the rear of the case.

And just to prove I didnt cheat and drill a few extra holes ... yeah I know I never painted the back panel ...

I have been using the rubber fan mounts for ages usually on cheap fans that had some vibration that was transfering to noise, the silent eagles didnt need them but it seemed a shame not to use them :) . Unfortunatley the horizontally mounted 140mm sharkoon had lots of vibration unless it was running at less than 700ish rpm so it really needed to be rubber mounted which did the trick. There was no vibration with it running vertically so I'm guessing it doesnt like hanging off the top of my case...
