I am thinking of getting an Antec 300 case, but have heard that the fans are a bit noisy. I have two 120mm Yate Loon fans - will I be able to swap things around so I have a quiet system with adequate ventilation? I'm not sure if a 120mm fan can replace the 140mm exhaust fan on the top?

It's a superb case for the money. I've fitted a few for customers.

The stock fans are a bit noisy on full speed but you don't need them on this setting as both fans (rear and top) come with a 3 speed switch. Slow or medium setting is fine.

However, you'll need an extra fan for the front intake. If you really want to make it silient, replace the fans and install a Zalman fan controller on the front.

Hope that helps.

Thanks.
I'm hoping the power switch comes with the leads that connect onto the motherboard as I'm currently lacking a power switch and have to touch a metal-ended object onto the pins to turn the computer on at the moment, maybe not the safest way!

Great little case, im using one in my main rig at the moment and i have a second one sitting here that ill be modding in the near future.

I replaced all the chassis fans and went with Sharkoon Eagles + Fan Controller, nice and quiet and great cooling.

Thanks.

Nothing actually wrong with that.. it's just the same as using a switch really, but it's better to use a reall switch to avoid waving metal ended objects near your motherboard.
The antec 300s switches all have 'tails'.. I doubt you'd find a case where they don't.

I'm running an Antec 300 here, very pleased with the case, plenty of simple and aparent cable routing points, though it might be worth me suggesting you invest in a 8-pin 12V extension lead if you're going to go mad with the routing, having the cable arcing over the GPU doesnt look nice :(

and they aren't very expensive.. I so wish I'd realised I needed one.

I got rid of the 140mm fan altogether as it made the top of the case vibrate slightly, creating an annoying low-frequency hum.

Awesome cases. They really are decent.

Got mine for £30 but it hasn't got anything thing in it right now. Just under my desk. Got to get around to doing a mod project with it soon. ;)

I did the same and it's so much quieter! I also got rid of the side panel fan as it wasn't really needed either.

Did a little mod today too and added some new feet to raise the case as I'm thinking of cutting a vent hole in the bottom for my PSU at some point.
(peeled off stock rubber feet, drilled holes, screwed in new feet...job done :))

It's a great little case :)

I got it today and have got it running, seems like a great little case!
My graphics card fan is so noisy I don't notice the other fans, will hopefully be getting something quieter, but I do notice the hard drive now. The scratchy noise is amplified by the case a lot, any ideas on how best to silence this? I have some thin adhesive foam pads that I might put between the hard drive and the mounting bracket.

I isolated my HD from the case by placing it in a caddy from my old 1080AMG, and then sitting the caddy upon a couple of layers of foam (which I liberated from a kitchen stool) on the floor of the case.

The best way to silence a hard drive is with a hammock or something similar.
