Guys (and gals),

Looking to swap my coolermaster 335 for an antec 300 as currently my rig is running hot.

I have a corsair TX 650 psu and the customer reviews of the 300 indicate the TX 650 doesn't sit properly. Is this the case (no pun) and if so how does one get round it without splashing out on a new case?

My advice would be to simply not buy one.

Much better cases available for the same or less money that you wont have that problem with.

I have a corsair 550W, there was one bit of metal stopping it going in straight away.
I bent it up a little and it now works (very tight fit)
Dunno if the 550 is the same sized PSU as yours that;s just my experience.

I have the TX650 and I had to bend the small bit of metal up slightly (doesn't take a lot of force) for the psu to fit properly. Other than that the 300 is a cracking little case.

I build in enough antec 300's with TX650 PSU's every day to know that there is no issue with fitting them, there is no metal in the way, and if there was, we would not build in them. It really is as simple as that :)

The 300 is a nice case but does not come with front fans, so I would recommend to buy 2 120mm fans to put in the front of it to really get some airflow.

I have a 300, and that mobo and PSU, it can be built with no extensions at all easily enough, I only have one because I wanted to sleeve the cables individually. :P

The PSU'S in 300's are designed to go in with the fan facing down, the peice of metal that your talking about is designed to keep the PSU located in the correct place. :D

But wouldn't the fan be almost flush to the floor then restricting air intake?

Edit: I have just ordered the 300 with 3 apache fans and a baram heatsink. Got the psu extender because this time going to really sort my cables out!

Well Antec in their infinate wisdom have left about half an inch gap for airflow. Thats how they designed it so the other way up probably means that the plate needs to be moved as it will interfere with the fan guard on the PSU.

Just a side note the Apache fans good as they are have only got a pwm socket on them so you will need some converter cables to three pins or you might have trouble powering them. :D

I bought the akasa pwm splitter cable to run three off a molex connector so they can connect to the pwm and be controlled that way?

Provided the psu won't overheat etc then shall mount it fan dowm.

It should be fine mounted downwards, just make sure that it is free from dust and you shouldnt have a problem. At Ocuk we do this all the time we haven't had one back for a blown PSU yet so you should be safe.

The PWM splitter cable will be fine it will run them at 100% rpm but they are very quiet anyway so you will be fine

Really? The splitter has 3 4 pin connections, a molex connection and a pwm connector to attach the 3 fans via the mobo. Won't that then allow for speed control via the mobo?

Sorry my bad I was thinking it was just a molex to PWM, that being the case it should be all fine and dandy lol

Cool, cheers mate for the replies, this is what has kept me coming back to ocuk for parts/builds, cheers for the ongoing help and support, it is unlike any other company I have used previously!

Now I just gotta grow the balls to have a go installing the baram heatsink I have on order......
