at the moment this psu is powering my system, got it with an onld sonata 2 case i used to have.

cpu is 6300 with 2gb ram.

thinking of getting a new gfx card, something like the 4870 and run a water loop for cpu, possibly gpu aswell.

would this be up to the challenge?

had to put my clock back to 2.8ghz due to system deciding it wants to be unstable at 3.22, not sure why it has deciided to do this but some people have mentioned it could be the psu. Until then i dont want to spend another £60 on a psu if it is not needed!

thanks

You should be ok with that spec, but if your planning to add another graphics card in the future then you should definetly consider a bigger and badder PSU.

Why are you upgrading an unstable system ? Sort the stability First & then upgrade.

just on with testing at the moment, then i can change whatever is the problem.

end of the day may need to buy a new psu, bit of a shame really, was hoping it would be the ram if anything, that way atleast i could sort it out a bit cheaper!

If it was unstable at 3.22 id point the finger at the RAM to beginb with, because unless you are running PC8500 RAM then its going to be massivly overclocked at 920Mhz to get the E6300 up to 3.22

You say its stable at 2.8, which again suggests the RAM because if its PC6400 RAM then it would be running at stock 800Mhz

What mobo do you have? If its an nvidia chipset you do have the option of running the RAM unlinked from the CPU

its a gigabyte board so sadly cant unlink the ram to the cpu. may just try memtest at 3ghz just so its in the 3's not 2's :P

will be good if i dont need a new psu, more money to spend on other parts :D
