Antec 620 temps?

Anyone here using a 620 with a clocked 2500k? I'm having some strange temp issues with mine and need a comparison. Currently at 4.8 on 1.38v, and idling at 27-41 deg (not bad). Problem is that after about 3 mins under load, temps are climbing to 76ish, which is nearing the top end of temps for me. A load temp like that is a good 10-20 deg more than reported in the various reviews.

Case is a Corsair 600T so there's plenty of airflow ect; case temps are really low despite having a GTX 280 in there that's trying its best to cook me:p Something that strikes me as strange as well is that I've tried various options for fan/rad mounting, and non make even the slightest difference to load temps. Tried having the fan push or pull, both into and exhausting from the case. No change. Tried adding a second fan and running push/pull, again not even a 1 deg difference to loads:confused: Also tried various types of good quality fans. Nothing.

I'm sure that the block/pump is fitted properly, despite the backplate being a little spongy due to the little metal spikes on the back of the mobo getting in the way. If it weren't fitted well than I can't see the idle temps being so low?

I've also set bios to manually have the pump/fan running at 100% so that shouldn't be the issue.

Bit stumped by this one as others who are even running more volts through their chips are reporting much, much lower load temps. Really starting to wonder if the pump is operating correctly.

EDIT: ended up returning the mobo as the tracks on the back were causing the mounting bracket to fir incorrectly, so the 620 was not to blame!

Could be the TIM.

Did you use the stock thermal pad, or did you remove it and use something else?

If you carefully (really, carefully) touch the radiator while it's reporting a 50+ degree temp, it should be pretty hot to the touch (did I say carefully? Do it carefully). This'll give you an idea whether the water temp is matching the CPU temp.

If the water temp is that high, then you probably need better cooling of the radiator, though as you've said you've tried all the arrangements that's a tad weird (it may be that your OC is at the limit of the cooling potential of a single rad?). If the rad is actually quite cool, then the block is not removing enough heat from the CPU, which could indicate the TIM is not working.

Well I left prime runnign for about 5 mins so the temps reported were 70+. Not only was the rad not hot to the touch, I'd go as far as too say it wasn't even really warm.

I just left the standard pad on there when I installed it so I'll give some MX-2 a try.

Cheers

Pump needs to go into the CPU fan header. It's only a three pin so is at max rpm, and I've set a 100% fan profile via bios just incase. Should be getting enough power that way but molex could be worth a bash if I can find a connector somewhere.

Also just reset the block with MX-2 and temps are again identical to before, raising to 76 within a few minutes. Find it so strange that nothing can even alter the temp by 1 degree at that voltage. Starting to wonder if there might be a fault somewhere in the unit. Even at stock voltage temps are approaching 70 at load after just a few minutes.

EDIT: even with HT off, it's still 76!
