You are going too fast. The scorch marks are the cutter / material getting too hot and tempering / hardening the steel. Add some thin oil to it, it will help to lubricate the job. Better to have proper cutting oil of course . . .

so i should put masking tape on it and then buy some of this oil stuff and put that on and then drill? should i drill a bit let it cool and start again and let it cool and again and again....??

Just slow and steady. I have no idea where you can buy cutting oil from, if you know anyone who works in engineering they could probably nab some for you. Let the drill and part cool if you think its getting too hot, i.e., it goes dull, changes colour, starts smoking / burning. Masking tape helps the drill to not slip initially, but its not needed once its cutting.
