Simple Question, what accessories do i need. I noticed that allot of people just use masking tape with some sort of black casing. I couldn't find this on OCUK. Can someone help me?

Note: I have already purchased a psu extension cable so that i can route most of the mess behind the side door.

A very hard case to keep tidy due to its restricted lack of space, check other Antec 900 threads to see pictures of owners systems... Good luck :D

Thanks BFG. Im aware of the other 900 threads. None seam to list the cable management related parts that they used. Can you help me out?

All I could recommend for you is to get PSU power extenders to make it easier to route cables, and use cable wraps to tidy any existing wires.. This is a very hard case to keep tidy but a little imagination can go a long way, hope I have been of some help..;)

I have a antec 900, and it took me hours to get it all nice and tidy. I sorted out all the cables ane wires before installing the motherboard. Then if you have done a good job of it, the motherboard should slip in nice and easy.

Try hiding cables behind the motherboard tray, not sure if you can on the 900 though.

Lots of cable ties.

Unplug ALL of your cables and get you case nice and tidy, then plug everything back in, one by one, cabling it as neatly as possible. Cable tie loose cables down and hide spare lengths of cable. If your CPU fan cable is too long, tie it round the heatsink first; the same goes for everthing else.

You can get cable sleeving kits, but tbh, they're a pain to install and you're better off buying a PSU that has it done already.

Same here - Black cable ties for the win & Psu 4/8pin extender cable for a couple of quid to get from bottom to top of motherboard.

£1 for 100 cable ties in homebase/b&q

From this

To this (with a small change of psu as my old one started whinning badly)

Yes i still need to turn my psu over to have the fan on top and also a bit more tidying at the top of the case but lots better and about 7-8 degree drop in case temps now

It's folding 24/7 for the last 5 days like that - there is a 5mm gap or so underneath - will sort it tommorrow!! Thanks!

With my case there about 1mm gap if your lucky. No wonder ppls psu fails within a few days if they treat them like that. Its just common sense at the end of the day, like if the psu has 2 fans, then you might be able to get away with running it the proper way up, but not if thats the only fan its got.

To be honnest its quite a poor design of antec, cos I forgot to cover my fan up while installing stuff and a screw fell in my psu, it took ages to shake the dam thing out.:D

got me worried now!!:eek: - will change it tommorrow for sure:)

Had that problem before now. Not in a 900, but when I was working on the PC a screw (or something) fell in the PSU without me knowing.

Bright blue light and a fair bit of acrid smoke.

You may notice your system will run quieter, cos at the moment, Im guessing the psu fan is going at full speed, trying to cool it down, but it cant cool its self down cos the fan hasnt any space to pull air into it.

Wow, so many replies! Cheers guys. As i said, i have already bought the PSU extention in anticipation for using the watercooling ports to route everything behind the case. Speedy, it appears that we have the same PSU / Case setup so i will try and use your case as a guide.

I'll use this thread as a base thread to post my build pics. Perhaps then, all you case modding experts could give me suggestions / advice.

Thanks again!

booyaka: The cables that you are using, are they the standard ones that came with your motherboard / PSU?

The reason why i ask, is that i don't want all my kit to arrive and not to have the right cords to be able to put everything together!

think i mentioned above - 100 for £1 in homebase/b&q - the ones with the psu where quiet thin and weedy ones.

Yes you did. So thats it? Excellent. I'll pick up the ties tomorrow when i get lapping accessories - ez :)

My cable management was improved on my 900 with a little Dremel Magic :)

Anyway just for comparison heres the state of play before the work was started

So what the mod entails was basically cutting a few holes into the motherboard tray to enable me to feed the vast majority of my PSU cables through the case and then run them along the backpanel and between the side panel of the case.

As you can see i cut a total of 4 holes in the motherboard tray to feed the various wires through, i really should have taken pics at different stages but i was quite into the work and didnt think ha ha. So all this bundle of cables running in the gap between the rear of the motherboard tray and the outer case panel when they were originally all inside the main case.

Using a combination of cable ties and electrical tape ive secured all the redundant leads which i dont use and left the fan connectors etc just bound with some electrical tape for easy access.

The case closes no problems with no bulge from all the cabling and it really does transform the interior and hides all those nasty wires :)

This is the finished product after the cable tidying mod was finished, the main atx lead visible was an annoyance as it was not long enough to run up the outside of the back panel, and too short to snake through the motherboard so all i can do is run it along the side of the case.

I will have to get one of those 4 pin extenders to complete the tidyin as the lead across the board takes off the tidy look but with a bit of pre planning the 900 can be made to take full advantageof its great airflow.

I didnt you could put the power supply upside down like that :( I better change my one asap currently facing down, I was thinking I could cut/drill holes under the bottom of the case but turning it upside down would be easier.
