Antec 900 or Antec 182

I have the P180 and it is excellent.

The P182 can only be better :)
I have the 182 and it is better!

Very quiet and very cool :D - the airflow system works well!

looks almost identical to mine ! except somehow i managed to route a few more cables through the back.

Intresting fan movement btw, did you find it improved case temperatures much ?

Go for the p182 for elegance and sophistication , or the 900 for slightly better temperatures and show off potential.

I was thinking of moving the front fan as my hdd temp gets higher than i would like (around 40C IIRC all fans on low). Not sure if its possible to move the fan down in front of the hdd, I may give it a look tomorrow.

CPU temps are ok though (~27C idle and going up to 35 ish when gaming).

Great case though.

Did yours not come installed infront of the hard drive then ? mine came like this
This.

Im idling around 25c, load ~47c in tat on an E2140 at 3ghz, which i thinks pretty good seeing as im 90% sure i have my tuniq fan pointing the wrong way (blowing into the case rather than exhausting i think, it gets confusing).

I ment at the front as it is in my picture (just at the bottom), it came as your picture.

I think my hdd temps will be okay as I just remembered I had just transferred about 30gigs worth of stuff between pc's so it had been in constant use for about an hour.

What is the best fan placement in the P182 can I ask ? I have the top 2 fans at the top keeping the hot air off the CPU via exhaust and also any ambient warm air.

I have the 3rd fan in front of the top hdd cage where the hdds are mounted.

The PSU (HX520) cools itself in the bottom bay all on its own and since heat rises there's no issues here.

Would it be better to leave the 3rd fan in the bottom area of the case in front of the PSU thus creating a wind tunnel effect and mount the HDDs on the front area? or leave the fan on the top hdd cage area to keep the GFX card cool since the bottom half of the case would remain relatively cool anyway thanks to heat rising and being exhausted by the PSU ?

I need a Zalman fanmate I think along with a 92mm fan if I am to install a 4th fan anywhere but I really like the default quietness!

a couple of P182 pics from my new build last week......

If I look at my Antec 900 and then that....

Dont know how much cleaner/well designed it can get. I would do the same also with removing that mid bay out and allowing full space for pciexpress cards bring on a 15inch beast I say :p + 120mm fan to cool it at front doesnt get better then that.

Got my P182 SE today, and got everything installed.

First impressions were hmmm ... not amazing, the top panel was not fitted corectly, one of the tabs at the front was not in the small slot, I had to force it in with a screwdriver.

But once I got started, have to say this case is lovely!!!

I've never been able to route so many cables behind the tray before!

Id still say its better to remove that mid bay and have the hdds at the bottom would look even more crisp/cleaner then.... clean itself !

Yeah, I did have a problem at first with the PCI-E power adaptor on the 8800 and had to move the HDD down one slot.

I might give that a go at some point :)

Lol I've just spent the past 3hrs~ re-cabling my case after seeing the photos above. Cabling is something else on its own, so fiddly to get just right especially on the P182 when you use the bottom fan as some cables may touch the fan blade.

Anyway, result! more space now on the mid section, I had to use a spare 120mm akasa fan (and mod a 3pin extension to the fan controllable headers on the mobo) controlled by Speedfan @ 40% power to keep it silent on the bottom bay where the hdds are, it's only role is to create an ambient wind tunnel in the bottom section which is exhausted by the PSU.

You can see how close the cables are after a tidy!

I'm building my 182 based system right now, cpu arrives tomorrow :D . The fan in the lower compartment doesn't seem to accommodate larger PSUs very well, I'm using the Antec Quattro 850w and I think I'll take the lower fan out.

I might aim an antec spotcool at the lower compartment if temps appear too high, but for the moment I'll leave it out.

The manual leaves a lot to be desired (to say the least), but its all reasonably intuitive. The cable routing is particularly sweet - as you can see from the pics on this thread.

I'd recommend the 182, its solid and very well laid out.

Im pretty sure you can move it back ? But yeh it does get a litte close to cables, just hoping mine isnt slowly cutting through one lol
