Im thinking of getting an antec 900 as a case for my new system, but i hear its noisy, and takes in a lot of dust. However, what i want to do is replace the 3 120mm fans with ones which dont let so much dust in, and are quiter, so could anyone reccomend some decent fans for me.

Im going to remove one of the HDD bays but keep one of the 120mm fans on the front, if you can mount a fan there without the HDD bay, which i asssume must be possible (first time im building a pc so i dont know too much ;))

Il also be using some paxmate on most of the inside of the case, because it looks better and.

Finally, i may be wanting to change the side panel with the window, by bascially removing the perspex and the grill, cutting the panel so the window is square, and then getting a new sheet of perspex and reattatching this to the side panel.

I am not too bothered about space inside the case, or the noise, but removing one of the HDD bays should open up some space i geuss if i do want to make it watercooled at a later date. For the case, the paxmate, the fans and the perspex it will probably come to around 100 quid, so i could just go for an akasa eclipse, but then id want to do the same with that. I also want a case which looks alright but isnt the same as everyone elses, and i wouldnt want to spend much more than this on a case really.

Basically is this a decent case if i make a few basic changes to it? i just want a case that looks alright, doesnt get too much dust in it. But im not too bothered about the noise. So should i get the 900 or just get an eclipse and leave it as it is?
Thanks for any help, and sorry about the long post ;)

Akasa Eclipse, look at the Eclipse Club Thread.... Fantastic looking case and all panels including the top are removable, extremely easy to access all areas of the case, cooling is exceptional, buy one or get an Antec 900 and experiance the cramp-ness and its superb dust collecting properties... ;)

i have the case and tbh with all the fans on the slowest settings i feel its not that loud. ive had louder cases in the past. but even with the fans on the lowest setting it keeps everything cool no problems.

keep us updated with your mods thou if you get one as ill be intrested to see what you do and how it all works

the thing is, if i get an eclipse right now, il probably have to wait another month or two to get the window and the paxmate.
While the antec isnt as good, it still isnt a bad case i geuss? would different fans stop it from collecting too much dust?
While the eclipse does look awesome in some of the photos, surely the antec could look just as good with a similar side panel window ;)
The case is pretty much the only part im not certain about atm :(

Edit;
Ok basically i want a case that looks unique and has good cooling, while not gtting covered in dust.
Would new fans remove the dust problem? If so then il go for the antec as it looks nice aswell and il actually be able to afford it xD

Found the Antec very cheaply made, too small / narrow and cramped internally for any serious modding, the Akasa is one of the widest cases avaliable giving more room internally for airflow and components. The two cases could not be any more diffrent... :)

but what if i dont want to do serious modding, just make it look slightly unique? The antec surely still has good air-flow aswell? Im not denying the fact that the eclipse is better, but i dont know if i can afford it, is it really worth spending extra?

You definetly get what you pay for, Akasa Eclipses can easily be purchased brand new for under £100... Once you get one you will see why they are so popular... :D

hmm il get it then ;) if im spending 70 quid, seems worthwhile to spend a little more on something which is a lot better, but it better be or il blame you BFG, because you blatently work for akasa :P :p
Nah thanks for the advice :),
I might try and save some money on the psu, i was going to get a corsair 520w for 68, what should i get for around 50 quid? That would be able to cope with e6420, asus P5N-E SLI NF650i SLi, 2gb crucial ram, and a leadtek 8800 640mb gts?

A wise choice... PSU I wouldn't go under 600Watt for particular setup of components, don't forget to send pics of your Akasa on the Club Thread ;)

580w hyper for 52 quid ok? Total comes to 715 quid over various sites for everything. Looking forward to getting it, shoulld be ordering this friday ;)
Yeh il put some pics up when i get it ;)

i would stay clear of Hypers... they have a habbit of dying lol...

i'd stick with that corsair PSU, well worth it... high quality PSU that will last ages...

How do i put the fans on lowest settings?

im gonna buy the lian li pc7+, and then the window as well, comes to 70ish, so im gonna save a bit of money, and tbh i do prefer the look of the lian li to the akasa. The front of the eclipse really spoils the case i think. the side looks quite sleek where as the front isnt nice at all imo.
Try and persuade me before i buy in 3 days if you want bfg ;)!

The front bezel looks so much better than any photos, smooth lines and it has a black gloss finish.... nice ;) You may save a few pennys on buying an inferior case, but think of the money it will cost you when you decide to sell it on e**y, I have seen a lot of Lian Li's on e**y's auction site, very rare you will see an Akasa..... I wonder why..

cos they arent popular with the average user? because they are expensive to begin with, therefore less likely to be bought by someone who wants a cheaper case? or that people are less inclined to move out of the case as it cost so much in the first place? that being said im buying a v2000+ in 2 weeks time (£170  )

Expensive dosen't make a good case..

kinda what i was trying to point out, but i then added that even so, i was still planning on buying a v2000+, which by all accounts is astounding, and having seen a v1200 in the flesh, i know im getting value for money

If im getting the v600, i may aswell go for the akasa ;)
Hmm its 20 pounds difference really.
Basically, im building a complete system, my dad will pay 500 quid, i pay the rest.
WIthout the case i have;
Core 2 duo e6420
asus P5N-E SLI NF650i SLi
leadtek 640mb 8800 gts
2gb ballistiz pc5300 ram.
optical drive
160gb seagate barracude HDD
thermal paste
tuniq tower 120
paxmate
500W CoolerMaster iGreen Power Silent SLi 85% Eff' ATX 12V V2.2

Which comes to £665. So im spending 165 quid, 100 of which ive already paid.
Im planning on earning the rest selling a few web templates. Im happy with the rest of the parts, so its either 48 quid for a pc7, or 88 for the akasa.

Does the front of the case actually look nice, comparing it to the front of say the pc7? In the pictures it doesnt look too great, but i can imagine it being alright. I really dont care about size, so if the pc7 is as good at cooling as the eclipse, is it really worth spending 40 quid more (20 once i get the pc7 window) on the eclipse?

I lvoe hoe the lian li looks, and think with good cable management and some paxmate used it could look better than an eclipse tbh..

Seems like im making an easy decsion seem dificult, but as i am 16, i dont want to spend 40 pounds more to find out i dont actually like the case as much..

edit; is it possible to fit watercooling in the lian li quite comfortably, i assume its not a small case anyway ;)
