Antec 920 problems. Fans don't spin.

There was no real good instruction and i am new to building PC's and need some major help.

Starting of i bought a antec 920 and its all installed. Only problem is the power and cables.

First - i have connected the USB to the USB header which is right i guess. :)

Second i have a 3 pin wire coming out of the pump and my motherboard has a 4 pin CPU FAN so i just put the 3 pin on the top of the 4 pin and left a pin out (the far right pin). Not sure if this is right.

Third - my antec came with 2 fans but i had to only use 1 because of space problems. Basically it asked me to connect 1 fan then the radiator then another fan on top of the radiator. I could only put the radiator on with the fan on top without the first fan. I hope this is ok.

Fourth - I now have a dangling wire because the wires that came with the pump has 2 wires that i guess you put the 2 fans in. 1 is a 4 pin and the other has 3 pins (1 is missing). So the fan i installed on top of the radiator i just put that into the 4 pin fan cable that came with the pump. With ofcourse the dangling 3 pin wire (with 1 missing) beside it doing nothing.

I hope you guys understand where i am coming from. Really do not want to start my new PC like this. You guys are the pros so i thought id ask. :)

*EDIT* Just tested out putting the 3 pin wire into SYSTEM FAN 2 (which are 4 pin) and the fans work but now there is no wire in the CPU fan which is worrying.

1. Make and model of motherboard.

2. Make and model of case.

I have the Antec 920 fitted in a Fractal Define Mini.

Antec Kühler H2O 920 Full Installation Guide

Hopefully this video will help, it maybe possible to fit the second fan onto the outside of the case in a push pull just don't put your fingers in it.

I have the Asus Maximus V Gene and fitting the three pin to the four pin cpu fan header has not caused any dramas.

It could also be a bios setting for fans?

Sorry i should have provided this.

Gigabyte Z77X-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
Antec P280 Super Midi Tower Case - Gun Metal Black

Just like to add that i also have not installed windows or anything yet either. This is basically me starting the PC for the first time. :)

Have you fitted the Antec to the rear 120mm hole or on the top of the case 120mm hole?

The rear fan slot. Basically looks like this

2 layers instead of the 3. It should look like this but theres no room.

If i put that third fan on then it makes it virtually impossible to mount the cooler on top of the CPU as the cooler hits of the third fan. I could try again maybe it is just a matter of millimetres but it did seem extremely tight.

Ok in my head l just got a horrible image of you fitting 3 fans to the Rad.

Don't loose the rag if l am off the mark.

You are fitting 120mm fan to rear of case, then the rad with the 120mm already fitted to the front of rad.

120mm case hole/120mm fan/rad/120mm fan.

I just have it like in the video but without the first fan so basically its like

Radiator|Fan

instead of in the video

Fan|Radiator|Fan

I don't have any fan's mounted outside of the case.

Coolio lol was worried for a sec.

Give it a bash to see if it fits, it should? fit if not you could try a low profile 120mm fan on the front instead?

OK i got it in no bother you were right enough there was just enough room.

But now comes the power and the cable management

Coolio, enjoy the cable management hehe, l route the fan cables around the back of my motherboard it fits just fine and reaches the fan four pin header find keeps it nice and tidy.

Enjoy your comp.

Oh no no i ain't done yet. The fans still won't spin when i put the 3 pin cable that came with the cooler into the CPU 4 pin slot. Do i maybe need to update drivers?

The H20 920 is controlled by software.

However connect the fans to the System fan header, if you have a spare fan fit it to the cpu fan header and see if it turns, again it could be a bios setting for now fan speed?

Excellent. I have it installed and the wire is going into Sys Fan 2 and i can control it from there. Nothing in the CPU fan slot yet. Ill maybe try a fan and see if it works but other than that i got the main part working. Thanks again. Come on the scots :)
