So to cut a long story short, I've had to RMA my motherboard as a consequence, I had to remove the the sticky pads that were helping to hold the socket backplate in place.
One of them has of course lost its hold, and the other one is only marginally better than the first.
Any ideas on where to get similar pads or will Sellotape sticky pads do the same? Perhaps I should just go without and hold it all on with the four mounting screws? Ideally need to get this all done tonight!
I'm probably answering my own question here as it seems they are just double sided foam sticky pads.
