antec hcg extreme 850w or seasonic focus gx-750w

both rated 80+ gold
both have 10 years warranty
both made my seasonic but the antec hgc extreme is based on the seasonic prime series and its slightly cheaper plus 100 more watts.

which one do i go for? no recommendations for other brands please just these 2, thanx in advance guys :)
 
just had 2 650w superflower leadex II gold rated blow in 2 years! was restarting on full load. had them tested and rma'd by ocuk :) so thats why i was looking at least a 750w

It was more than likely something other than it not being able to deliver the wattage. If it was underpowered it would have given issues from day 1.

If you want to go with a bigger wattage then of course it is your choice :) Out of the two you posted the Antec is a no brainer. Still Seasonic, but the Prime is a bit better than the Focus. Also there is an Antec rep on the forum (Ace Modder).
 
seasonic are inaccurate? Even so i had similar issues and having a little extra in the tank helped.

You will get a different suggestion depending on which one you use. They want you to buy a bigger unit as they usually cost more money. So I would take any psu calculator website suggestions with a huge grain of salt. If you only need a 550W there is no reason to buy a 750W and so on. Of course the price is also a factor. Sometimes there isn't much difference in price between a 550W and 650W for example.

I usually go off reviews to see the power consumption. The cpu and gpu are the two components that will use the most so you can get a rough idea by checking reviews on them. Things like hard drives/ssd's and regular case fans etc don't use much.
