Hi
New member, but I have used this forum in the past for info.
I have recently built a HTPC as a side hobby project to see how small I could go as follows:
AMD A6 6400K Dual Core 3.9GHz FM2 1MB Cache 65W TDP CPU Processor
Gigabyte GA-F2A88XN-WIFI, AMD A88X, FM2+, DDR3, SATA III 6Gb/s, RAID, PCIe 3.0
Kingston Technology KHX1600C9D3B1/4G - Kingston HyperX Blu 4GB (1x4GB) Memory
Kingston Technology SSD 60GB 2.5"
Antec ISK300-150 Black Mini-ITX Case 150W PSU
Noctua NH-L9a AMD ONLY Low Profile Quiet CPU Cooler : NH-L9a
*I also added a low profile 2 Port USB 3.0 card but I have since removed it due to the issues I was having and it also turned out to be a bit of a redundant part.
Purpose of the build is as a media centre, it boots up fine the media software runs smoothly, all is OK until I put it to sleep.
Upon wake the Noctua fan spins up and then stops, then the CPU temp sky rockets and the alarms on the monitoring software go off and its time to shut it down!
To compound matters I can no longer access Bios Setup to switch fans from auto to a set speed to see if that helps. Del, F8, F9, F10 all take me to select Boot operating system screen, F12 does nothing. This was after a Bios update install and applying quick boot settings so that may have contributed to this.
Even with an SSD (and quick boot which is confusing) it takes up to 5 minutes to boot from fresh, putting it to sleep and waking with remote is ideal, as I do with the countless other (larger) HTPC builds I have done in the past.
Does anyone have any suggestions or tips on fixing this issue?
