oh man new rig is here but its going rubbish!

Cant turn down Antec Khuler 920....swapped stock with 2 x gentle typhoons

installed ChilliV but ITS FULL SPEED ALL THE time supposed to be silent????
tried 2 USB headers and followed guides; black wire goes next to where theres no pin contact....no different

tried manual / auto fan control in bios - same - wont turn down

not sure whats wrong now?

And seems Asrock Z68gen 3
thnaks

The gt's are 3 pin, not 4 pin like the stock fans so will run 100% unless connected to a fan controller. I am in the same boat as u atm, but have an aquaero 5 LT to solve the 'problem'. I think vipers and apaches are 4 pin pwm fans.

That's my understanding of it all :-).

not really done much testing yet but got the stocks back on and the software controls it now as suspected- silent mode is only silent when you compare it the EXTREME mode, otherwise I think silence could be a "misnomer" in this game....in silent mode its pretty "audible" in my book....how are you supposed to make custom setting in that software...any one know?......all I can do is extreme, silent (pfft) or custom but you cant do alter any setting in there? lol ta

I am however very pleased with this mainboard Asrock Z68 Gen3 - rock solid - pressed one button and at 4.8 without batting an eyelid...not stressed much but left lin-X running for 30 mins and
it was ok, usually a bad over clock get rumbled asap with that tool. More later.....also when you put your ear to the cooler can you hear "faint" gravely bubbling???

I think your problem is that the GT's are 3 pin fans, not 4 pin PWM ones, maybe look at swapping them for Akasa Apaches or vipers. As for the custom profile, you click on one of the tabs (can't rememeber which), you change at what water temp the fans ramp up at.

I cant hear any bubbling, perhaps it just because its new etc, I think I have read in the watercooling section somewhere that air bubbles are normal to begin with and that they will just disappear :-).

As for fan controlling, I imagine (I cant do it as I have the 3 pin GT's attached) that changing the 'Fan Ramp Start Temp' and the 'Full Fan Speed Temp' options in the Fan Control tab will sort that out... But thats as much as you can customize it I believe. It would be cool to have an Afterburner style fan control, but hey ho. This may help.

Are you keeping the GT's or swapping them for Apaches / Vipers?

i was a dumbA$$ was so used to reading temps of CPU didnt twig had to guage it on water temp, was setting fan to ramp at 65 degrees and wondering why in core temp at 78 degrees nothing had happened lol - i wonder if the apaches would make a massive difference?
