So I bought this on 12th may 2011, it has been cooling a 2600k @4.2GHz 1.38V for 10 years almost 24/7. Today I noticed when trying to do a re encode the cpu throttled down to 2.2GHz due to the temps hitting 98C on core 1.

Do you reckon the water in the rad has evaporated? I bought some new thermal paste (didn't replace it before out of shear laziness) and I have a spare noctua knocking around. I'm just wondering if you can refill a rad aio.

Try and rotate the cooler around, the more you can hear water sloshing and flowing the less water there is.

If it is empty (the water does bleed out of tubing) the Linus Tech Tips forums has a guide on replacing 620 and 920 tubing. Follow every step except the actual tube replacement and you'll have yourself a refilled Kuhler.

This is interesting, I'll have a look when I disassemble and my thermal paste arrives!

Hm so yeah my case was full of dust but to my surprise I had a corsair dual rad, a rush of memories then hit me :D Anyway I can't remember model, anyone have a clue? I reckon the dust build up was seriously hampering the rad.

Applied some conductonaut and temps are better buttttttttt, flipping my rad upside down and back again I could hear the water swooshing around. I'm guessing there should be no air in the rad. I couldn't find my spare cooler so I didn't use that, oh well. I don't see myself gaming much until next year anyway so at least I can do everything else on the pc.

Just tried encoding something and yeah, temps still high.

I've already thoroughly cleaned it, I think there is basically very little fluid left in the rad. Warranty is 60 months I think and I've had it 84.

So I grabbed a d15 from a chap in leicester. My temps are hitting 100c now so I can safely say that rad is dead.

Temps have dropped a lot! 35 idle when my room is cool. 40 to 50 when my room is warm, both go up to around 70ish and thats with me upping vcore to 1.4v and grabbing 200ish mhz on the cpu. Actually felt like gaming so I bought detroit human :D

One thing annoying me though, a single fan on the heatsink and its silent, stick a second fan on and there is a high pitched noise. Remove the second fan whilst its still powered and the noise disappears.. Seems odd maybe I need more rubber strips on the heatsink with the second fan...

That's pretty interesting! I realised I had a coolermaster h100 in there in the end, I swapped it at some point and I think I blocked the trauma of making it fit in my case. haha.
