Ive just swapped my rig into a new antec lanboy air case. In my old case temps wernt great with a very high voltage oc, but only the pwm temps were a problem.

In the lanboy my pwm temp is down 10'c, perfect. BUT cpu temps have gone up! between +5-10'c on idle, and im having to bail prime95 after a couple of mins coz temps are maxing out :( not perfect.

I assumed id given the cooler a knock so got it repasted and upgraded to the newer version (articfreezer7 rev2) However not much has changed and still overheats in prime.

Any suggestions?
One thing to note is i have a 1p35 pro with uguru controlling fans, uguru temps are always out by 10'c but this wasnt causing a problem before.
Also in my old case the psu was at the top sucking air from around cpu area, now its located at the bottom of case. tho pwm in the same place has got cooler so doubts its this either.

Have you got the fans set up with them all blowing in? This may interfere with exhausting the hot air from the cooler. Set the rear fan as exhaust and see what happens.

ok thanks that has actually helped a lot

this is worrying me tho, the whole point of this case was the no have exhaust fans and "positive pressure". If ive had to straight away make one fan an exhaust, it kinda makes you think antecs theory is a load of *****

if im guna have to go with push/pull airflow, i dont see the case working as well as a regular sealed case. Oh dear, why didnt i get the antec1200.

Gutted so far.

im using the 5 fans it came with, 2 front intake, 2 side intake (moved up to cpu height), then the back one ive change to exhaust, and suspended a 80mm right next to the cpu and also another 80mm i had lying around on the top as exhaust. The fans it came with are all antec2 afaik

In theory, your CPU should be fine. Maybe try re-seating your CPU cooler again as you may have unevenly spread the paste that you reapplied.

well if im honest id never done the paste myself before so i got someone whos done it loads of times to do it. He did it as thin as possible and also upgraded the cooler to newer version.

The way it is now the cpu is back how it was in my old case, same idle/load temps. But at the cost of the pwm getting too hot again.

My worry here is can this case pull off a decent push/pull airflow with so many open panels. IE the 2 intake fans on the front, most the air they pull in goes straight out through the hdd enclosures and very little air gets to the mobo area.

I think the problem is that the positive pressure idea does not work well with your cooler. The fan of the cooler is trying to push air directly against the rear fan that is blowing against it. I would try turning your cooler about 180* so the CPU fan faces the other way, then put your rear fan back to intake. In my opinion the cooler needs somewhere to exhaust and this is normally at the rear. So instead of putting an intake fan at the rear they should have left a hole there for the air to exhaust from the CPU cooler with the help of the positive air pressure forcing it out.

In theory their idea make sense, however in practice it is not as good. Agreed with Vinni though, the RV02 would have been a better option, although it's the RV02 Evo version with defiantly comes with the air penetrators as standard.

yes Gundog48 what you say again makes a lot of sense. Unforetunately my cooler cannot be turned around.

any suggestion on a better cooler? maybe one without a fan?

in a momement of madness i tried running without the cpu fan connected!
temps wernt much different suprisingly, but in prime things started getting warm!

just to update: dont wanna put anyone off this case if its right for them

moved the psu to top of case, lowering cpu into flow of front fans more and away from exhaust area. Rear fan as an exhaust for now because cant adjust the direction the cpu fan flows. This brought temps down very nicely over 10'c less peak temp in prime. Also added fan to rear/side of case blowing onto back of pwm through the mobo plate. This knocks a nice 30+'c off pwm temps in prime, and high pwm temps were the reason i needed a new case in the first place so more than happy now. I just need to look out for a cpu cooler that would work better with antecs original all intake configuration now.

I have this case too, and I am fine but...

I have a 1055t in mine running on the stock cooler and stock speeds and everything is maxing aout about 45.c?

I knew about this 'pressure' thing before I bought it and I decided to change my rear fan around so it could push the air out.
After this my idle temps went down.

And if you are moaning about dust, then I have had mine closed for about 2-3 months and it was fine. But I am also planning to buy dust filters, especially for the front 2 fans.

I am also planning to buy a cpu cooler but thats another story :)
